woohoo just compared 2 lappys and.....

ok i configured the dell xps 170 and it was 2,500 and the hypersonic cx7 was 2,700 but the hypersonic cx7 had no dead pixel policy.i am going with the dell xs 170, also i know that the dell xps 170 has some "light leakage" but is realy that noticeable.also if you have a picture of the "light leakage" then can you please post it.thanx
also who ever is thinknig about buying a dell xps 170 go and buy it now they lowered the price to 1,999.
woohoo go dell and you know they wil always have some great deals soon

222-0258 XPS M170,PM 740(1.73GHZ) S $1,531.00

Call Dell and may get a rep that will sell you this model. 222-0258 is the SKU, so you may be able to go thru Dell Spare Parts and get it. $1,531 is the price for the system will all the base model options. So 6800Ultra, 60gig HD, 17" UXGA True Life, CDRW/DVD Combo, etc.

If you do get a rep that will help you build the system new, add options to get the price up to 2000$ and then use the 650$ off 1999$ coupon that "might" still work on the XPS models. (I believe it expired this morning though at 6am)

the XPS screens dont really have much light leakage, it's the 9300's WXGA screens you have to worry about.

Are the xps/m170 screens different models than what's put on the 9300?

The WUXGA screens I would think are the same, but the XPS is not available with any of the lower resolution screens.

6800 is playable but I would go for 7800gtx so you really wont have any worrys. When you play games at the lcd native res (1920x1200) its going to tax your card alot more so the extra power is needed.
I just love my m170 and I cant see parting with it for a long time.

I would say yes and no. Yes, you could, but newer and newer games=you will have to put it on medium-to-low to play. While no, if you're the kind of person who hates doing that, and I would honestly recommend the 7800gtx go to last you longer until your next upgrade.

If it goes down $300 in 6 months, would you pay $50 a month to have it now?
