XPS m140 Lid Closing with gap

Does anyone notice that there is a huge gap between the lid and the base of the M140 when it is close? This makes the lid hit the base repeatedly when carrying it with 1 hand like a book grabbed on its side.

Mine does that too. Come to think of it, my last notebook was like that as well. I don't think its that big of a deal though.

notice that too when i had the M140, but the worst par ton mine is that the lid was actually warped so one side has a bigger gap than the other side.

The gap is not that big, and it is there so that when you put something on the top of the notebook (like 3-4 books), the rubber pads around the LCD will use that gap to prevent the keyboard from damaging the screen.

If your XPS M140 has an uneven gap, that is build defect.

I have the Inspiron 8600 and the lid is flush with the case. The rubber feet prevents the keyboard from ruining the screen whether ther eis a gap or not.

right, but gap shouldnt be there.

my sister bought a 6000 about 6 months after me.

hers sits on the top of the sides like it should, no gap. it feels way better build than mine also. mine has a flimsy feeling, hers has NONE. think its a combination of the gap, and a 9cell that wiggles a little. she has the 6.
