Line across screen on my i9300
Augh! What is wrong with my LCD display?
There is a white line across the screen about a few pixels wide. The line matches the border of the windows taskbar, I think. Since it doesn't show up in screenshots, this might be a hardware issue. Can someone confirm this? It's a weekend and I won't be able to contact Dell till Monday. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...d/DSC00010.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...d/DSC00009.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...d/DSC00008.jpg Pardon the poor quality images. I don't have my digicam with me right now. |

I guess it's time to call Dell for a replacement LCD. Darnit, I thought the burning issue was solved years ago.

Yeah. The line is there immediately after I turn on the power.
Anyway, what are the procedures (I'm going through Dell's website right now. Can't find any info yet though) to send back the laptop for repairs since it is still under warranty? And typically, how long will it take for them to fix such a problem? Any ideas? |

Sigh, I guess so. Most likely it is the screen since the line does look like LCD burning to me.

Please don't yell at me for resurrecting a dead thread... but I searched around, and this seems to match the same problem I have had for the past couple of months. A thin vertical white line down the screen of my 17" XPS2 (UXGA).
Was a solution ever found for this? Do I need a new screen? |

Arrgh! Same thing happened to me recently, a few months after the 1 year warranty was up.
The problem was the screen and a new screen cost my boss over $700 (not me, heh...) I found cheaper offers, including Dell, but none with a 1 year warranty which I feel is minimal. And I replaced the screen myself, using the very adequate online Dell repair manual. My threads about it here on NBF: http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...light=annoying http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...light=annoying |
