Recommended average temperature for a laptop?
My setup is an Asus W3A with a 1.7GHz Intel Centrino, and I would like to know what is a recommended running temperature for such a CPU.
Had a real mess inside my vents, and was running at over 90C. Did a quick clean up and now I am down to 53C, but I would still like to know what is a good temperature and how I can reach it. Thanks.

my asus W1N (dothan 1,6GHZ reaches 110C when pushes hard!!! but it never give me any problems)
if u want "cool" CPU try to get AMD turion. My ferrari with Turion 64 2.0GHZ only about 40-50C when pushses hard.

Each setup will be different. Some will have more room for ventilation, some have different components that produce more heat e.g. powerful gpu, cpus, some have powerful ultra noisy fans to keep things cool etc. There is no recommended temperature and this varies so much from laptop to laptop. My laptop is about 52-55c idle and 80c when fully stressed. That is because its only about 1inch thin and the fans are low rpm so it is very quiet...
Intel recommends you don't go over 100c for pentium-m/core duo.

Use RMClock to undervolt ur cpu. I went down from a max of 67* to a max of 54* on my Turion, so u should be able to drop ur temps quite a bit with undervolting.

Some confusion here ???
At 100C, Intel chips SHUT DOWN. With or without your consent. It's the emergency shutdown limit. My reading of the Intel specs suggests that Core2 mobile chips have a maximum operating temp, T(l) of 85C which is like redline on your car tach. How long you think you can run a production car or production chip right at redline, is, up to you and your wallet.
