Help on deciding to purchase a laptop for the 1st time

I took this format from another forum. But basically, I need help buying a laptop. Originally, I think I was going to wait until Black Friday. But chances of me getting a laptop on that insane day will be slim. I've been building many PCs in the past, however my knowledge of laptops is limited. I am a student and planning to take the laptop with me to the library and other places to use cause I hate borrowing one from the library, hehe. I want one simple, but can last me a long time.

Budget: $400-750

Size of Notebook: 14.1", however the 15.4"s are also acceptable as second choice

What I will be using the laptop for: Word Processing, web surfing, maybe watching some movies/music, or possibly old school light gaming (ex. StarCraft or similar)

Brands that I don't really want: Compaq, Gateway, or Toshiba

How many hours of battery life: 3hours is minimum (6-cell I believe)

Widescreen/normal screen: No preference

Graphics/sound/wireless: All integrated is fine, I will not be playing hardcore games anyways. Wireless internet should be decent (like an Intel combo or something)

Hard Drive space: minimum 80GB

RAM: minimum 512mb

Last thing: not too hot/warm on laptop, must have a DVD-burner (that can burn cds + dvds), preferrably an Intel Core Duo or newer (but thats okay if it isnt)

for that kind of price range, you'll want to look into Dell. Can anyone see if they still have those beefy coupons lol .

Yeah. I was hoping to get some amazing deals. I know the specs I'm asking for are quite hefty for the price range, but deals nowadays (esp since it's almost Holiday season!) should make it more doable.
