Acer 2025 vs Ferrari 3200

I've been looking through these forums for a laptop to get me through college. In the last few days and pretty much decided on either the Acer Ferrari 3200 or the 2025. I always thought no matter what SXGA+ is better than WXGA, but is it in this case? And does the 512KB L2 cache of the AMD result in a decent decrease in performance vs. the 2MB Dothan to give up the possibility of a future 64bit OS? These are the only differences I see between the two computers. Are there any other computers i should be looking at besides these too and the cl56 and mitac. Thanks for looking at all this I searched for this but didnt find anything. Forgive me I'm new.

since you are going to college, the ferrari is very flashy, very attention getting...whatever that means to you, good or bad

What are you looking for in a laptop? what are going to be the uses? does battery life matter to you? what will you be studying? if you can tell us someone of that type stuff, then we can better say this will work for you better than that...etc

Battery life means next to nothing to me it will almost be always plugged in. I'm just trying to get a laptop that will get me through the next 3 years with out having any serious problems and letting me run Office programs and browse the internet and a few games relatively problem free.

if you are looking for a notebook just to do simple functions like that, you could spend a lot less than what you would be paying for the ferrari or the 2025, or even the compal or mitac. you could probably even go with a dell, and just purchase the extended warranty and accidental coverage to guarantee you will have a functioning computer for the next 3 years. that is just my view. but like i said, for just simple word processing and internet browsing, the ferrari and 2025 would work, but would almost be a waste of money. that is just my opinion

by the time 64 bit is the norm, your laptop you buy within the next 1-2 months, will be no more than a paperweight, so don't buy a 64-bit processor trying to future proof yourself, cause its pointless now
