Question Ibuypower vs. Hypersonic-pc

I'm looking to buy a dothan notebook, and all of the spiffy paint jobs I've seen have me lusting after one myself.

Right now I'm considering both the Hypersonic Aviator CX5 vs. the Ibuypower Battalion 101 E-turbo. As far as configuration goes, they are both pretty much identical. Hypersonic offers the no-dead-pixel guarentee which is nice, but the paint job is 300$ less at Ibuypower.

The main thing I am concerned about is the integrity of the companies. From browsing the forums and doing a little searching I get the general feeling that Ibuypower might have signifigant problems, especially in regards to their timeliness in shipping, and in fixing faulty equipment.

Does anyone have any useful insight into the matter?

Well Hypersonic isnt known for shipping out its notebooks very fast, especialy the ones that are painted. However, the paintjobs that they provide are in a while other league when compared to the ones by IBUYPOWER.

If money isnt a large factor, or you are willing to pay for quality, I suggest you go with Hypersonic.

I actually don't live too far from ibuypower and when I was looking for a laptop I called them several times to discuss shipping times and such. They were willing to pick up the pace and send out the laptop in 5 business days for an additional $50 providing I did not want a painted case. When I found out the case was a paint job I started reading about them and found that $100 for a paint job was fairly cheap. I wondered what would happen with the first chip of the paint. What that might lead to and if my paint job would look horrid in a matter of months.
Between that and the fact that I had to pay to get the laptop in a reasonable time and they would not really give me a turn around time on fixes if need be I waited to make my decision. As I waited I found a heavier but more cost effective laptop and bought that from a store in Orange County.
If I were you I would certainly pay for quality. I would buy a laptop from ibuypower, but it would have to be something I was willing to wait for. They were also very nice about me picking it up.
I just don't know about their paintjobs.

I just received my GX7 with custom red paint from Hypersonic last week. I don't know about IBP's paint job, but I can tell you the Hypersonics are well worth the wait. Oh, yes it will be a wait also. It took me 5 weeks to receive mine, but, the paints evenly applied, looks just like looking into a deep pool of glossy auto paint. Every little identifying symbol above every port is easy to read without drips or clogging paint. All vent grills are perfect along with the bottom of the laptops intake vents. It's well worth the money IMHO.

Isn't Hypersonic an all around better computer than IBuyPower? Seems like night and day to me.

The CL56 is a good computer, but the aopen 1557 (ibuypower sells the revised version) is also very good. There havent been any complaints regarding it. The multiple key presses problem was fixed, and the same appears to apply to the heat under the keyboard problem.

LOL. Screw the paint job. Go with the glowing alien eyes in an Alienware! That looks killer. Too bad they are so damn expensive and don't use the Pentium M in the area-51 and the monitor in the other laptop is only 12.1 inches. Oh, well.

Have you checked out the Voodoo designs? Those look really cool, too.

I wish I could just get a clear case and do my own paint job. That would be fun.

Good luck, and show pictures when you get it. I'm just envious -- wish I had money to blow on it based on paint job and design, etc. I'll just live vicariously through you.

Support may be a key issue but as far as the hardware itself, ther'es nothing Hypseronic does that sets it's own notebooks away from any other reseller.
