My future desktop is calling me...
ok guys, its desktop time, time for a rig that ill build with my own two hands. My first question is one that i need to be sure about: can I use my current 2.66 pentium 4 cpu to be put in a desktop computer? (My brother keeps telling me its not and its getting on my nerves, so ill just let him see this post and laugh in his face
). If I can indeed put a pentium 4 chip in a desktop sized motherboard, does anyone have any idea what type of motherboard to get? (abit is the only one i know of) Also while im at it and dont want to make another post at 4:00am, what is the smallest cpu that i can fit inside of my 5670? Cuase I need one to replace the 2.66 ill take out of it, and i only need enough cpu power to turn the computer on and play some games. Thanks a bunch. ![]()

If it were me, I'd keep the 2.66 in the laptop and but at least a 2.8 w/800Mhz FSB for the Desktop. If the laptop is going to be "scrapped", then, I'd consider selling it rather than scrapping it.

My advice would be to scrap the whole Intel thing altogether and go with AMD along with an Abit, Gigabyte or Asus mobo.
just my .02 Kevin And now back to your regularly scheduled program |

well my laptop wont be "srapped", it will be more of an alternative way to play away from my dektop
. Since I constantly move my laptop to and fro from classes at college, it would be nice to have a base of operations and not having to unpack/repack my laptop all the time. (and my 5670 is getting behind the times for the future games coming out ) I do have an abit motherboard already, its a KD7-raid, and i have no idea what it can support. I would like to put in at least a amd xp 3200+ into it, but dont know if it can support 400 fsb. Choices choices too many choices...edit: crap it cant support it, only up to 2200+ time to see what is the cheapest combo, amd or intel
