Acer 2025 screen vs. 2012?
I am interested in the Acer 2025 and I have read all of the reviews here on the system. I have even read many on the 2012. The one thing that I have not seen covered is a comparison of screen between the 2012 and the 2025. The acer write up on the 2025 talks about the screen being 25% brighter than other tft's as well and talking about clear vision. Neither of these points is mentioned in the 2012 write up. This is important to me since local retailers only carry the 2012 and im trying to get an idea of what to expect from the 2025's screen. If it is brighter and clearer I dont think I will hesitate on ordering it.
Also I have seen many threads about dead pixel problems on the 2012. This is a great concern for me since I am going to be doing lots of design work on it and a dead pixel would drive me insane (on top of the fact that im anal about dead pixels to begin with). I have personally seen a dead pixel (green) and an unlit pixel in the store floor model of the 2012. -Thanks Chris. |

I am not sure where you got those dead-pixel problems for the 2012 screen. I have read every single thread on this forum, and several others, and no one has ever complained, or at least not many people, about dead pixels on the 2012. I personally remember only one person complaining about 1 dead pixel on his 2012.
The screen of the 2025 is slightly better (brighter display) than that of the 2012 but we are talking about a difference of ~1000 bucks so... not much to discuss here. The 2012 has one of the best screens out there (Acer, Asus, and Sony, of course) but for its price I don't think you can find many alternatives to it, that is if price is a concern for you. |

I have no problem spending the extra cash for the 2025. I agree it is over priced but the extra vram, larger drive (though still only 4200rpm), dothan, bluetooth, and if in fact the display is brighter... not to mention the slick slot load super drive... its worth it to me.
Also since I am going to be trveling with the laptop quite a bit the alum. case is a plus. This machine is going to be used for gaming and dvd in my leisure and on planes :-). Then while working I be doing web design/graphics and programming on the machine. I may have read the dead pixel complaints on another site... perhaps notebookreview.com. Either way i know there was a 4 page thread somewhere with people talking about the 2012 and dead pixels. |

Mebe it's my fault that I was whining and moaning in several threads about the dead pixel on my laptop because of this it seemed like several people had problems. I think the only person whose made a review who mentioend a dead pixel was myself as I don't recall anyone else mentioning it. Acer doesn't have an issue with dead pixels anymore than any other manufacturer.

well im about 90% decided on purchasing the 2025. Unfortuantely I have some pretty lousy luck and im always skeptical in my purchases. My g/f is sitting here saying I should just purchase the 2025. I will let every know what I decided and I will be sure to review whatever I purchase.
Thanks for the info. |

I just placed my order for the acer 2025 through newegg.com a few minutes ago. I paid the 2.99 for rush processing and I hope to receive it by friday. Hopefully I will like the laptop... I have bounced around so much that I just dont know whether I made the right decision or not. All I can say is that if you dont make the leap eventually then you will spend your whole life researching things. In the end the machine has basically everything I was looking for and it was still within my budget.

As for newegg...are you sure that they will usually waive that fee???
My understanding was that newegg has a very particular policy for every single notebook they sell....ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, NO RETURNS. Is this not the case??? They post it (no returns) under every notebook listing they have. It is the only product that they list this for. If you are thinking that you can return a notebook to newegg because you have returned other products to newegg, I would check with them. I don't think that you can. Andrew Austin, TX Quote:

Newegg does not allow returns on notebooks, however the sales person I spoke to said they will replace defective items.

Well, I am not a "Dell lover", but you are calling the Acer extended warranty "complete care" and it is not quite the same. Acer excludes things like "negligence" from being covered, which Dell does not. Negligence is a pretty broad term, basically, spilling a Coke into your notebook could easily be termed "negligence" since you shouldn't technically have a Coke near the machine. With Dell you are covered, period, not sure about Acer. They call theirs something like "total notebook protection" but read the fine print, it is online. I just did.
