Dell REMOVED the A04 BIOS from their site!
I went to support and the A04 BIOS is GONE. Just the A03 is shown as the latest version. Isn't that something? People start having issues and they pull the bios. Dell should have done more testing FIRST.
You know, it seems that each week Dell has more and more issues. I think the company needs a management shakeup. Murphy's Law is running rampant at Dell. ![]() |

Good... Dell messed up a lot of systems with their garbage bios update. It's about time they took care of the problem. It was obvious that the bios update was the issue. Nothing else but poor programming. Instead of making improvements they contribute to the demise of their customers attitudes. "Dude you're getting a [piece of sh*t]!"

I just checked and the A04 is on the site. They must have taken it off for a little while and put it back on.

Hmm no problems on my machine...kinda curious though if there is a way to find out if the previously posted A04 bios is the same and not changed in anyway as the once again posted bios. And it is also interesting to note that I have heard of 3 people on this site with broken machines and yet the majority are not reporting problems. If it was bad programming and I am not saying it is not then can anyone explain why not everyones machine is not fried? Just curious. Thanks

Allow me to clear up some confusion: this is the IXPS A04 bios update we're talking about here correct? The update posted at this time, 9:52 PM Pacific Time, is the A03 bios. There is no sign of of the A04, for any operating system. Why? There is something wrong with the A04 version. In fact, I was one of the people that experienced its detrimental effects. Luckily I was able to reflash the old bios and alleviate the problem. Maybe those of us who were screwed by the update have something in common: could it be we all have new IXPS notebooks? Perhaps it only affects notebooks with certain characteristics.

3.4 Ghz P4 Prescott, non-EE, 1Gig stock 400 Mhz memory, RM 9800 256. If you have the A04 bios and haven't experienced any problems to your knowledge, then I wouldn't be worried: you most likely won't have any. I knew something was wrong the second I installed the update.

I wish you were right, but as of now flashBIOS A04 for the IXPS is still uploaded to Dell's ftp server and has not been pulled yet.

Ya, I was talking about the iXPS. I think they pulled for iXPS only, not i9100. Dell smells.

I cannot explain why it is still on the ftp site. This is the link to the Dell Support Bios Download Page: http://support.dell.com/support/down...=6190&devlib=1. The latest bios posted on that site is the A03, not the A04. Somebody explain that.

There could be a few reasons but for speculation how about:
*There was a problem and it was removed from the site but they forgot about the FTP. *The download page was overwitten accidently with an old version so it doesn't have the most up to date info.

"Dude, youre getting a piece of Sh&#!" maybe the programming department smokes das much pot as the dell dude. I know when I was a trainer for Apple I did. I know what I have done to some of my systems while baked too. Just think... without pot, we wouldnt have the macintosh (hee hee). Steve Jobs is cool. Woz is weird, but still cool.Really now... I dunno about the bios. I flashed mine just fine. Maybe there is a earlier revision motherboard with a different bios chip that this flash doesnt like. That would be my guess. disabilities suck. pot makes life a wee bit better. |
