ok bizzarre black pixel on screen
Hello,
I'm having a bizzarre problem with a black pixel appearing at random places on screen (every couple of days) and stays there until I press refresh on windows. It only appeared in windows explorer or in mozilla thunderbird (it's like outlook express). example: I browse my computer using windows explorer and in the white part of the window (the background) I see a black pixel, like a pixel that hasn't been drawn white but black. So I move the mouse cursor over it and gets hidden. So it's not a dead pixel afterall :-) it appears also on my crt monitor too. could it be an issue with the motherboard, chipset drivers, videodrivers, cacheman, registry tweaking (ehehe), heating issue? I strongly believe it's not an heating issue as I had the 9600 card, heatsink and fan replaced by dell 3 days ago ( I was getting artifacts including this black pixel and high temps because of my old 9600 ). Also spotted the black pixel after 20 mins since my laptop was on, when the system was still 'cold'. has anybody ever heard of such problem? not at all. The only thing I could think of is cacheman, an utility I used to tweak windows' registry in order to change windows' cache settings. Otherwise my system is pretty safe with the latest dell's drivers and latest intel chipset drivers. I've restored the original configuration now. Let's see if the black pixel comes back.
