Hi,

I have received, via a few twists, an Aspire 9100 Notebook.

The cooling fan runs all the time (even though the relevant bios setting is off), and in irregular intervals the notebook's screen turns black (but the computer seems to run...), there seems to be no keyboard or mouse interaction left, and the only way to get the computer back to normal is to brutally shut it off.

I tried the energy settings, switched Powerplay off, etc. The helpdesk insist that it "is a software issue" and I should revert to the last saved version... however, I have a feeling that this is not the real solution. Anyone have any advice for me?
