Parts Loopu WITHOUT a serial..possible?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to buy a T43 or maybe a t42 but I would like to know exactly what part comes delivered in the machine i beforehand before I even think about it.

I have som experince with meeting people having thinkpads and seen that compared side-by-side on same models, the screens were quite different even tho the same settings and same resulution and otherwise same specification, only CPU and harddrive might have been different and when looking deeeper in to them, via the parts lookup, found that there wore differences in them..

Because IBM/Lenevo, when looking for service part, only displays what part is compatible with that specific machine and not what model has what specifick part when inte comes to LCD-displays...

Because I would like to have a 14.1 LCD made by Samsung and not ID Tech and keyboard made by NBM and not Chicone(or what they are named) on the one I eventually buy...

So, asking all of U duudes/dudettes...is there any answer to this question on how I can look the specific part up without having a serial nr?

I dont if Samsung LCD's are better in general in comparison to the ID Tech-ones, but what I have been able to find out and compare myself the couple of experiences I have been able to do this, a Samsung screen has been the better one. I have a ID Tech in my current X40 and have been able to compare to one other x40 that had the Samsund-LCD and the difference was quiate big, mine has a very irritating narrow viewing angle and it is so bad that I find myself having to adjust the angle in 2 diffrent positions to see 2 different angles that both show different and good pictures of what I'm viewing. Like I have to overlap my viewing in 2 different angles to get 1 "complete" picture, for expample looking at the reviews here on the forum that have a nice picture that fills the screen, I have to either scroll so that I see the whole picture in a good viewing quality or I have to adjust the viewing angle if I want to see the whole picture without scrolling...

For U x40/x41/x31/x32 owners that read this...are your screens this terrible or did I just get a bad one? It dont have any dead pixels or so but I would rather have that than having to adjust the screen just because I dont want to scroll down to read a text at the bottom of the page...

Generally, the Hydis screens are considered superior to samsung.

As far as I know there is no way to know what parts you will get until after the order has shipped. They do have a 30 day return policy if you get parts you don't like.

yeah, i've heard the same thing. hydis>samsung. I got a hydis screen (and the nmb keyboard, too), but I don't think you have a choice, unless you catch them right before they start building it. I guess you could call and try. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
