Can anyone please tell me where I can find a good guide for a Linux noob?
I've got about 6 or 7 different versions at home to install and play with but although I can install them, I then am unure what all the different folders are and stuff like that....

If you're wondering what the different folders "and stuff like that" are, then I'd say you might need to take a break and wait until you've read into it a little more.

That's part of the fun of linux , learn the os ! I recommend just playing around and find a distro that you like then go to it's support forum's. You can learn basic stuff from any book but I find it easier and more entertaining to learn by doing. It can and will be frustrating at times and some people in forums are buttheads but in general most are helpful. The more you use a particular distro the more you learn about it's quirks. I say dive in and read man files, help files and google the hell out of it! Do not be overwelmed, you won't regret saying bye at least part way to MS if not completely. the key is have time too HAVE FUN.

There is a sticky topic above with good links to help you out, but the number one way to learn linux is to install and play, get one of those guides in front of you sure if you feel you need it, but the MAIN thing is to play and try it out, you cant just read a guide most of the time and understand it completly, playing and trying things out is a HUGE part of it.

I've been madly downloading and installing different distro's to see what they are like and so far have liked most of them...but it's hard when you don't have a clue how to do something and you want to do it...but yes I'll play around with it and learn it.....and then have to teach friends....
