Any Ideas Please People ICS & Firewire?

Ok here goes, I got my old HP notebook connected to my tosh laptop via fire wire, I couldn't get internet connection sharing to work so I bridged my LAN and 1394 Adapters on the Toshiba, (LAN goes straight to ADSL Modem) then set up static IP's on the two machines. File sharing and Internet works fine on both machines.
However every 10mins or so the HP lappy stops working on the net, all I have to do is unplug the fire wire cable and plug it in again and it works again imediately without touching anything else.
Anyone know whats causing this?
It's been driving me nuts for the past few hours now.

I would look towards the firewall on the HP. It's probably blocking DNS. After it happens again on the HP, see if you can connect to new sites using their IP addresses.

Could also check the Event Viewer - if something is timing out it may get recorded there.

Probably firewall mis-settings of some kind.

Thanks for the reply's all. mich43L, you hit the nail on the head with DNS, I had already disabled the firewall on the HP thinking that it may have been the problem and it made no difference. When I configfured the HP addresses I used the same DNS and Alt DNS server addresses as my ISP set up for the main toshiba PC.
IE Tosh Address
IP:192.168.1.2
SUBMASK:255.255.255.0
GATEWAY:192.168.1.1
DNS 203.121.120.42
ALT 203.121.120.39
The only difference with the HP was the IP address 192.168.1.3
As I said the above mentioned problem occoured with these settings. So I tried letting the HP automatically configure the IP addresses. So now its assigned by DHCP ok, DNS is 192.168.1.1 now. The internet works fine brownsing and stays connected. However now it won't sign into MSN or Yahoo or complete Wupdates on the HP while the toshiba works fine and the HP did when I had the static IP addresses, but as I said stopped every 10 mins and had to be unpluged and re-plugged again.
Any more thoughts anyone?

Set the DNS server to 192.168.1.1. Assign it the static IP address of 192.168.1.3

I say just try setting up ICS on the Toshiba again. Windows XP has a good one. It'll give your toshiba IP address of 192.168.0.1 and automatically give out the address to the HP notebook. The setup is quick and works great.
