Had it for about 2 months and maybe more. No major compliants other than the battery life. This thing eats up battery like a Ferrari eats up gas. I even disabled all the devices I rarely use (via Device Manager).

my ferrari

Has had no problems and runs great. I use it for live electronic music performances (ableton live software) and dj'ing so fan noise is never an issue. I get a lot of compliments on the laptop when I take it out. I can run several VST appz and no slowdown or loss of latency !! The keyboard is a little strange to get used to at fist and the mouse is worthless. I like my Logitech much better. I also bought a Lapcool 2 for it to make sure it stays cool in a hot club environment.

What were your battery expectations? And how much life are you pulling from a battery?
I frequently see 3+ hours when just surfing and doing small stuff, which is mostly what I do... when gaming... I'm plugged in...

nice space age i love going to clubs

i have my ferrari for 2 weeks now and the best laptop ive owned. one niche is that i already scratches my carbon fiber lid by puttin it in my backpack which i am NOT too happy about.

the acer ferrari mouse is fine w/ me? yea it does have mini sec sec lag it is suitiable to surfing, application and even it wasnt all that bad when i was playing bf1942.

i have put in my own energizer's 2500mah rechargable batteries. maybe a stong power source might deliver better experience?

only problems i had were with the dvd drive.
the cloth type material covering the dvd drive ripped of the plastic on 2 of the drives. 3rd one i super glued it so now iis fine.

Still cant get my ram to run at 200fsb

some parts of the ruberry coating on the outside is peeling off (rubbing off).

i think its only your keyboard.

try using extra fine rubbing compound for automobiles. use cotton for slight rubbing and for polishing. this should get rid of all scratches. hope this helps you....

I'm contemplating buying a Ferrari 4005WLMi BUT...

After further research, I've read rumors that Acer laptops, including this model of Ferrari do not come with OEM XP operating systems disks? This makes no sense! What if I want to upgrade my HDD, or need to reformat the entire thing, or don't want their backup crap taking up HDD space?

Can anyone confirm, or deny this? Does Acer indeed give OEM OS disks? I refuse to buy a computer that has no way to reinstall the OS from at least an OEM disk!

My Ferrai did not come with OEM disk but if you wanted to you could just get an OEM disk and use you keu that is loacted on the bottom. THis should work I am not totaly sure I have the 4002 that comes with home and I put pro onit so I do not know if this works with ACER but my old ZE1000 this works with.

acer does not include an OEM-disk ... but there are recovery-disks included to setup the notebooks software in original state ...

but you also can copy a ms OEM-XP-disk and install a clean copy of windows with the oem-key ...

My only gripe with this system is that one of the speakers don't work. My other gripe is that the speaker that does work makes clicking noises when gaming or watching dvd's. I'm pretty sure the warranty will cover it, but I can't afford to be without a laptop at the moment, and I know when I send it in it will come back with scratches, so i'm waiting a while to send it in. Other than that, it is a awsome system. BF2 runs like a dream.
