X-Fi Cards...

Has anyone seen (or heard I should say) what Creative has been up to lately? I read in a mag that they are currently developing a new Soundcard that is supposed to be 24x more powerful than the latest Audigy card! It's called X-Fi, google it to learn more about this beast, but I have to wonder how long it will take after releasing it in PCI form before they release it to us Lappy users in PCMCIA form, a la Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card. Here's hoping it is soon!

I don't know we're looking at a long wait for the X-Fi to be released in desktops so it must probably be another long wait until we get it in PCMCIA or USB form from Creative.

You may want to address Creative themselves to see if they have any info. (if you get any post it here )

Internal card on motherboard supplies enough our need for gaming.

The audigy 2 or x-fi is only designed for movies or music maker, but who's watching a movie on his computer ??

Who isn't watching movies in some capacity on this? I watch them all the time.

I watch some movies on my Lappy, but in anycase, I didn't ask about that. I have an 4.1 Klipsch Promedia Speaker Setup from my old Desktop, and hate being able to only plug in 2.1 because I can't plug in the rear speaker wire at the same time as the front, however, I found something for an iPod at ShopKo, that allows two headphones in the same jack, maybe that will hold me over until X-Fi finally makes it to us Lappy users...

PCMCIA and USB sound cards do not do anything for internal speakers on mobile systems. They are mostly made for EXTERNAL surround sound systems with the capability to output that type of sound like home theater systems and add more sound options and environment effects like THX and EAX sound.

They don't do anything with common headphones either for that you will need surround sound headphones like the Zalman ZM-RS6F Surround Headphones.

Hope this is helpful.

im really looking forward to these new sound cards, i read on theire sites it was was like haveing a 3.4 p4 dedicated to sound, of course they are blowing their own horn, but still i want.

as for movie, i watch all my movies on my laptop, i recently got rid of my dvd player because i much prefer my 7700.

im gonna get the audigy 2 for the notebooks soon, as i could see this beeing a real wait.

I know that creative just came out with a PCMCIA version of their E-MU card. As a proud EmulatorX Studio owner, Im fricken psyched to add this sucker to my 7700, and blow the walls out of some small local venues.

yea but i only have a small tv in my room and its crt. So i want to get rid of it. i believe technology should have a minimal impact on the look of a room and my alienware has a smaller profile.

Besides with my digital box and vcr and dvd player on top is practically a meter of media stuff. I prefer the 'small' profile a the 7700.
