Can zd8000 video card be upgraded

I have read the notebook manufacturerers are entertaining the idea of having upgradable video cards for notebooks? Is the HP zd8000 designed with the video actually residing on a removable video card? Is it possible to upgrade?

simply put no you cant upgrade the card in the zd8000, most current laptop video cards are not but some in the ultra high end are upgradeable. the pci express switchover from agp doesnt mean that it can be upgraded just because it is pci express.

the dell xps gen 2 (although that is only in theory because no upgrade yet exists fro the 6800 ultra already in it)... as well as the sager 9880 and its clones including machines made by falcon northwest, voodoo, hypersonic, and the alienware 7700, the sager machines are truely upgradeable because an upgrade does exist for the machine. thta said they also are pricy when purchased from vendors other than sager or its resellers. if you purchase a loaded falcon northwest version it can cost over $6000 US... truely crazy. the cheapest place is often through sellers like PCT (they own this forum) but it will be more expensive than your average HP.

yeah sagers are expinisve, its BASE price was about $100 than my Zd8000 fully loaded with P4 650, 80gig HDD, 256MB X600, 2048MB ram...

a sager with the same specs was going to cost me over $3000, i just didn't think the upgradeability of it was worth that much more. Given it does have the best GPU on the market, but before that to go from a 6800 Go to the ultra was a $780ish kit that your laptop had to be RMA'd back to sager to do.

Though the new Clevo 900k that is coming out the end of this year would be nice, Dual Core AMD processor in a laptop
