Yes to the 2gb. But he NEEDS good cooling on a Pentium D. Those things idle in the 50s. Full load can bring up to ~85C. Aftermarket cooling is a MUST. Air cooling on a Pentium D limits your OC. Most P-Ds max at 3.6ghz or so on air. Water should fetch 4ghz or so assuming your ram can make it.

But I agree with Fry. 2gb is a MUST for the newest games. Then invest in watercooling. Don't expect much of an OC out of a P-D without at least water or a TEC.

With the dual cores. it also helps a lot to remove the IHS before putting on the heatsink. This usually drops the temp by ~5 degrees.

i got one 512mb stick and i will add threee more 1gig sticks in the future probably it is gonna be like 3512mb ram well maybe i'll sell the 512mb and get another 1gig to complete the ram thing as 4gig.

gotta wait some to have some cash

yea the cpu runs pretty hot, idle 49 to 55 load 55 to 63 i never saw more than 63

Ya know, 4gb of ram is pretty much overkill for that system.
4GB is definitely overkill....save yourself some money and buy three more sticks of 512.

If he wants to clock higher, he should use 1gb sticks.

Yes. If you want to OC the CPU you also have to overclock the ram at the same time unless you use a divider.

Some people like that case look. I partially agree with you... but to each, his own. No need to diss someone's personal preference.

A gaming rig is more than a fancy case. If you truly wanted a 'gaming rig', you would have went with AMD, and definitely more than 512mb of ram.

I do have to say though, your GPU is sweet... and even your case (absolutely awesome). You're halfway there for a 'gaming rig', why you went with Intel i have no clue. Is it because Dell goes with Intel?

if u run three 1gb memory stick ans one 512 will loose your memory bandwidth, you will need to match all 4 sticks...

I purchased all this parts from newegg the built my SirBA Vento Gen 1

here we go

- Pentium D 830 Dual Core EMT64

- 512MB Corsair XMS DDR2 800MHz PC6400

- ASUS P5DW2 Premium Intel 955X Chipset (asus is the best)

- ASUS DVD-+RW 16X Speed w/DL (asus is the best)

- ASUS Vento 3600 Gaming Case (This case bloody rulez, you gotta see it)

- ASUS EN7800GTX PCI-e Graphic Card 256MB GDDR3 2DHTV (asus is the best)

- Aspire 520 Watt Power Supply

If you set the same spec on a dXPS Gen 5 it will be RATHER, WAY higher than what I paid, of course it is brand name and all, well didn't have the money for that right now, I wish we could do the same thing for laptops

Anyways, I assembled my system today, I'll post the 3dmark05 scores later, expecting at least 8000 let's see...

I guess you didnt realize your in the notebook forum, not the desktop....
