Thinking about buying SONY S video card advice.

After reading up this forum I decided to buy a Sony S Series. For the money I could probably get a better notebook but 1. It wont look as sleek as Sony 2. Wont be as small and portable 3. I really don’t care about the price :-P Now I see that there are basically 2 choices for video card, obviously different laptops. So either Radeon 9700 or NVIDIA 6200. Out of those 2 which one do you think would perform faster?

Thanks!

4 page thread on the ati 9700 vs the nvidia CLICK

Basically, the S360 is the better buy. Also cheaper, runs cooler and based on some remarks a better quality LCD.

Yeah I founded that post, after posting this. Silly me Anyways! I am now a pround owner of Sony S360! Got the display model at micrp center for $1349.00 not a bad deal I think! Only killer was tax! So came out at $1451.00 but there is a $100 mail in rebate!

How does it run with the standard 4200RPM drive (I'm assuming you have this speed drive)? I haven't received my S360 (stationed in Korea -- mail is slow ) yet I'm thinking about upgrading my 80GB 4200RPM drive to a 5400 or maybe even a 7200 RPM drive but I need to stop spending so much money.

Yes you are correct! Well I haven’t really tested any games yet, windows runs flawlessly. So far I am loving it! I will test the games later tonight and let you know!

Ok! Just installed and played Battlefield 2 and all I can say it WOW!!! I played a little on 1024 by 768 all settings on low and I was getting steady 50-70fps! There where a few hick ups there and there (freezes for .1 sec) but that’s probably due to 4200rpm drive and 512mb ram, plus I have all the VAIO crap installed as well. I must say I am impressed! This is just what I have been needed a small portable gaming/work laptop! $1600 well spend (well after upgrading the hard drive and memory that’s how much it will cost about). Going to try GTA San Andreas next! You know what the funny thing is? This laptop loaded maps faster then my AMD 3000+, 1GB, 70GB SATA Raptor HDD, NVIDIA 6800 Ultra desktop!

Just played GTA San Andreas, once again flawless! 1024 by 768 all settings maxed out (except for AA) runs smooth like butter! I ordered Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM HDD and another 512MB ram stick from ewiz, this baby will fly then!

idgamerd, checkout http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/ to find out how to run your games in widescreen.

The games will look EVEN BETTER when ran in your LCDs native resolution (1280x800)...trust me

That's awesome news. My S360 will have 1GB of Ram installed already so I can't wait to try some stuff. I can't wait to get it either. Hurry up!!
