Windows Server 2003 on Sager 5680

So, it's come: that magical time when your machine needs to be cleaned up and reformatted (a.k.a. filled up with junk from LANs and year[s] of use).

I find myself in the possession of a Windows Server 2003 Standard evaluation CD and roughly 180 days until I'd think about reformatting again (winter break).

After looking through the Windows 2003 HCL (dammit, I closed the window), I found that just about everything on my machine, a 5680, should work. The only unsupported piece of hardware was the DVD-RW drive - this could be problematic if it doesn't work.

I'll be first installing the OS, getting 'net access up, then updating to SP1. After that, I'll be installing the remainder of the drivers, followed by games (UT2k4, Steam, Battlefield 1942/Vietnam/2, Halo, EV Nova, FarCry).

I'm starting tonight about 9:00pm and will fill this in as I go.

DVD drive should be fine, as DVD drives generally don't require specific drivers. Unless I'm missing something here.

So far so good, everything seems to work except the pesky wireless card. Using the stock drivers or the Dell TM 1180 drivers (same card), the driver begins to install but craps out with "The parameter is incorrect." as the error message on the Cannot Install Hardware dialog. I've emailed Sager about it, as Broadcom refuses to talk with non-OEMs about their OEM parts (everything they make except the 4410 and 57xx series).
