Hi everyone.

I need some help. I am on the verge of buying the i6000d. I just have one left question left to ask: Is that computer good for video editing?

Here is the config:

2GHz centrino 533MHz

512 RAM (I will upgrade later)

80 GB HDD (External 100GB 7200)

The better of the video graphics card that they are offering.

I am sure that this config can handle windows movie maker, but I am going to buy the Sony Vegas 6 + DVD.

Can it handle it?

simple answer: YES.

It is my video machine and I happen to know couple of things about digital video.

See my post about 6000D outperforming desktop 3.4 ghz 1gb 800FSB machine in MPEG2 encoding.

I was wondering, though, does the video card matter at all in this sort of performance? Would you even benefit from upgrading the video memory?

128MB ATI is definitely better than 64MB ATI.

are you video editing for personal or business, dell has the crappiest screens you can ever find in any laptop ever made around the world. so now thats out of the way, if you dont care about color qulaity, screen dark in corners and uneven backlighting. then get the 6000d because its pretty powerful. I returned mine becauese of the bad screen and i got a good deal on it too. If your just putting together video of your vacation etc... then this is perfect. if your anal designer its no good.

How about the gateway m520? Is it good for editing? I am really going to be editing home videos, some old football games and convert my old vhs tapes to dvd.

I have been checking out the m520 from gateway. Whay is it that there upgrades are some much cheaper than dell?

It seems like I could get a better deal with gateway.
