..... just like the topic says, will there be an AMD Athlon64 FX-51 for laptops?

it'd be cool to have a laptop with a wuxga or uxga+ screen with 3200+ processor with 1gb 400mhz ddr ram with dual channel with 256mb M11 or something and a 60gb hd w/ 7200rpm.. haha.. i'm dreaming but hey that'd rock if they made this

There is a "mobile" Athlon64 DTR, which is more or less an Athlon64-FX/Opteron with half the memory bandwidth and a few minor powersaving tweaks. (The real power saving features are present in both desktop and "mobile" versions). Having half the memory bandwidth does reduce the performance, but the Athlon has always been more efficient with memory bandwidth than the Pentium IV (and not as efficient as the Pentium 3), so the difference isn't so great as you might think.

It has a power-saving mode, so that when not being stressed it uses about as much power as a Pentium-M when it *is* being stressed. (about 25-30W).
The 3000+ version uses about 60ish watts of power when pushed, which is still much less power and heat than the very popular Pentium IV solutions, which tend to use 75-100W, with no low-power mode available.
You can order the first Athlon64 laptop, built by Arima, from Hypersonic PC, Voodoo PC, and, if you are in the UK, Evesham.

As far as future plans, you might wish to take a look at AMD's roadmap.
