the bios that lets you select the fan mode operation? my 9860 loses it's hibernation feature and forces me to reboot to get it back again. it says something like "not enough resources for the api".

This is something I've seen since XP SP2 on a variety of machines, including my 9860.

Did you happen to upgrade to SP2 at about that time?

I'm not saying it can't have anything to do with the BIOS upgrade, but I'd been experiencing it long before I upgraded to the latest BIOS.

And I agree, it SUCKS!

i always had SP2, it came installed with the 9860.

i just recently started to experience this, especially since upgrading to 2 gigs of ram..

i don't know if it is the 2 gigs of ram, or the bios or what. maybe it is from installing CAD based software like 3ds max or maya.

Did your hibernation file expand to 2Gb or is it still at 1Gb. If at 1Gb, turn of Hibernation and then turn it back on. Maybe you don't have enough free space for the additional 1GB hard drive space it needs to accomodate the extra ram

All the machines I've experienced this problem on had 2G of RAM as well. Hm. But they were all originally installed with that amount, afaik (I know my Sager was).

Is there a fix for this problem yet? I'm running XP service pack 2 on my 9880 with 2Gb ram and have the same problem? Any patches for this yet?
