So I'm about to have my brand new Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M3438G soon (WinXP Home SP2, PM750, nVIDIA 6800GO 256MB DDR1). Obviously I want to update the GPU-driver in order to get better performance in games. However, since nVIDIA doesn't really have a support page from where you can download mobile Forceware and since Fujitsu-Siemens support page sucks (no updates or old updates) there are a couple of places from where you can get better Forceware. The sites are Guru3D and Laptopvideo2go. Especially the latter seems to offer a lot of drivers for notebooks (doh!).
Now, here's the problem. Most (if not all) of these drivers from those sites are beta versions. This means that they might have bugs and the worst case scenario is that they ruin your notebook. To make things more complicated you have to download these modded INF files to make these Forceware compatible with mobile-GPUs. All of this raises some serious questions although I don't know how many people have used them and ruined their notebooks. However, a lot of people use these 'amateur' drivers (well now amateur, they're from nVIDIA but only beta).
Well, I guess I'm gonna be brave and try these drivers out. The best choice would be Forceware 77.70 (GO) because that'a a mobile driver and if I understand it correctly you don't even need to install the INF (because the driver already is for mobile GPUs). Recently, some people have recommended that I'd try Forceware 77.76 with INF. Apparently it is an official nVIDIA beta driver and should be fast and stable. Still, I have my doubts.
