24 hours with my brand new I9300

Guys,

I just wanted to share with you my first thoughts about the 9300 I received yesterday.

Config:
CPU 2Ghz
RAM 2G (crucial)
HDD 60Gb 7,200RPM
6800 Go
DVDRW (sony)
Keyboard ....Chinese
WUXGA
Carbon Fiber quicksnap
Dell Backpack

First I'v been very surprised by the quality overall, I think that Dell really improved compared to the I9100 I also own.
The Dell 9300 is surprisingly light, it's not ultra-portable but it's a pleasure to carry on and it does not get hot at all, barely warm.

As far as performance I think that it is not as powerful as I was expecting, its equivalent in P4 would be my old I9100, P4 2.8 (presscott) same 7200RPM HDD and 1 Gb of DDR...the I9300 might be a little bit faster but not much.

Multimedia: I ran 3dmark 2005 with drivers from dell (77.xx) and it returned me a score of 3267 which is correct but not amazing at all but I did not OC and Dell does not optimize its drivers for 3dmark unlike Nvidea.
Sound is Amazing as far as quality for a laptop, but the subwoofer seems a little bit weak, still it's outstanding for a laptop.

The extra real estate provided by the WUXGA is great, I am actually watching a movie while writing this post (some may say ...can see that ) but the overall readiness of documents is very difficult.

The Dell backpack is less fancy than the Targus (That's the other brand I think) for example but of a very good quality.

The intel 2200 gave me a little trouble at the beginning but it's fine and reliable now, it even found much more networks than my previous MS 54g.

Overall I'm very happy, it looks great, outstanding multimedia experience and good (not great) productivity.
I might OC the video card though

Same exact system as yours almost (check my sig) and I'm running the newest Dell version nvidia drivers, 77.24s.

Have it auto overclocked and I'm pulling 4300 in 3dmark05. Core 350mhz, memory, 750mhz. You should crank 'em up a tad.

Aye that card can easily handle 350/750, mine is running 365/770 right now and I am getting 4512 in 05, heat is very minimal and no artifacts etc.

A strait shot with my 1.6Ghz is faster than a P4 2.6, and just a hair slower than a 2.8 which is saying something considering it is low clocked. But the productivity with multitasking is where the trade off is. Can only do so much at one time. But you will get used to managing that pretty well and it isnt as bad as it could be.

This lappy smokes my old 8200 easily and rivals my desktop so far. I have to give them some credit, I read a few reviews and after running this one for 2 months it is way better than some of the reviews, I mean come on people the LCD lid being stiff is a good thing :P
