Catalyst Drivers - BF2 - Anyone else getting..? - Page 3

PPL Read here:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/Catalyst...es.html#212275

# Battlefield 2: Geometry corruption or missing textures are no longer noticed when playing the game for an extended period of time under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon® X800 XT installed
# 3D Mark03: Enabling Powerplay mode and running the 3DMark03 or 05 in a loop no longer results in an error message being displayed

I'm using 5.8 from Driversheaven but 3dmark still crashes... also i've tried NFS U2 and after some time playing, the game starts to move at 0.001 frames/sec and i have to restart it... I'm trying right now 3dmark without PowerPlay mode enabled.. I'll tell you right away the result..

Yeah it just has to be a problem with the 5.7's and BF2. My roommate is using 5.6 Omega's with no problems. Is BF2 fine now with the 5.8s? I'll probably just wait for the omega to come out but still curious how that works. Thanks.

Guys.. read this...
http://www.driverheaven.net/archive/...p/t-71037.html

After all it seems to have something in common with heat... Tommorow i'll try something i have in mind.. i'll post some pictures also.. I've noticed last time i opened my notebook that the GPU didn't make 100% contact with it's heatsink.. I've put some thermal grease but haven't removed the original thermal pad.. i will do it tommorow.. i'll also try to monitor the GPU temperature with an external sensor and we'll see what i get..

Also what i've noticed is that when 3Dmark or anything else crashes, my CPU temperature is around 65C degrees.. Can u check your temperatures.. ?

The games just buggy

I'm running a radeon 9700 in a Sager 8790. I just installed the 5.8 drivers and I still get Geometry corruption or missing textures within a few moments of playing the game. 5.4 Driver worked best for me. I generally could play for half an hour on them. I've also tried the Omega 5.4 to 5.7 drivers along with the Catalyst 5.3 to 5.8. All on stock settings. I suspect after reading the total BF2 forums it won’t get any better until the BF2 1.3 patch comes out at the end of August. Almost anyone using an ATI card seems to have some type of problem.

Thread Starter
I just returned my notebook and am awaiting another one as a replacment. I think the heat issue makes sense, as the graphical corruption I'm seeing in almost all games reminds me of what happens when you overclock a graphics card too far and the stability goes down the tubes. I'm hoping my new unit (coming Thursday) will work properly.
