3dmark05 scores??

Hey guys,

I've never been too big into benchmarking but since I am deployed with my new XPS2 I really dont have anything better todo. So I downloaded 3dmark05 yesterday ran it with my 'stock clock' and scored a 5109 Then I flashed the bios at 480/1100 and scored a 5332 I am running the Dell 77.24 drivers. Is there any tweaking involved when benchmarking your systems because I have seen some people scoring 5300+ on stock clocks??

It may have to do with them having 2 gigs of ram. There's even a thread here posting 6000 scores!

Yeah, I saw those threads for the 6K club but I would be happy with 5500-5800 w/o any cooling devices

could be anything really. do you have alot of stuff running in the background? bloatware? the 1gig of ram instead of 2gigs. you can try the 80.40 drivers (laptopvideo2go.com). download i9kfangui, monitor the temps, and see if you have more room to overclock.

I was getting 5700 with 475/1100 and 80.40's. Dropped the 80.40's due to bugginess

Stock score means no OC'ing....my score in my sig was out-of-the-box (stock drivers) and i didnt even change image quality to high performance (which is how you get higher scores also)...Ram will not increase your 3dmark05 noticeably!!! I changed to 80.40 drivers b4 reformat and changed image quality to high performance (still no Auto OC'ing though) and got scores in 5300 and 5400 range (with HD in need of defrag badly also)

Edit: changed my sig but the score was 5108 and that was average (there were some under, some over)-Bios mod for higher scores like most but i prefer a more practical solution to overclocking...If 7800go (when released and available for xps2) is locked by Bios (which im 95% sure it will since everyone seems comfortable with this workaround) im gonna be pissed...

I overclocked again to 475/1200 and got a 5550. So I guess that is good enough for me. My Cpu Idles around 37-38 and my GPU Idles around 48. I dont think that is too bad and I still havent applied AS5.

DArk, do you know a good site to get I9Kfangui from?? I did a search on google and all it brought up was people talking about it.

you have to install i8kfangui first sorry i forgot to mention that...site details instructions but its a little confusing since there are instructions for beta version there as well...Just read the directions at the bottom left and you'll be fine...

6025 with 77.72 drivers from laptop video and 512/1250 no extra cooling , no as5. I will look at doing the as5 soon to keep it a little cooler thought.

Was able to play BF@ for 1 hour without any crash. played F.E.A.R. for 30 mins right after and got 1 reboot but I had maxed out ALL the settings.

Ran 3dmark after that and got from

5640 500/1100
5865 500/1200
6025 512/1250

Your stock scores are perfectly normal Thearod, if you change the 77.24 drivers to 80.40 from laptopvideo2go or 77.70 from Guru of 3D you will get 5300+ on high performance settings in 3D mark just like me on stock clocks.
