Sager models vs. Clevo models

For all of you looking for user or service manuals on the Clevo ftp site, you will notice that the Clevo name for your computer is different from what Sager calls your laptop. On the bottom of your computer, there is a label that says "Notebook Computer," under this, it says "Model:*****" When you need a manual or drivers, just look at this label.

Here is a list for reference:

Sager 4760 : Clevo D470W
Sager 5660 : Clevo 5600D
Sager 5670 : Clevo 5600D(S)
Sager 8886 : Clevo 888E
Sager 8887 : Clevo 888ES

Sager 2880 : Clevo T200C
Sager 3750 : Clevo M375C
Sager 4060 : Clevo D400E
Sager 4780 : Clevo D470V
Sager 5680 : Clevo D500P
Sager 5690 : Clevo D500E
Sager 8890 : Clevo D800P

8887 = 888ES I think, the 8886 is the 888E
Edit: and the 8890 is the D800P, the 5680 the D500P.

Very true, my bad ( ). The pictures and tables I was using for sources were mislabeled.

Good work, jmsnipe. One more thing to change though, 5660 = 5600D, 5670 = 5600DS
The pattern I see is that the "S" in 5600DS and 888ES is for the Hyper-threading enabled version with 128Mb video ram (correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks, Henrik. The model number on my 5670 is 5600D, so I'm not sure about the DS part, I'll check out the Clevo website, though.

Everyone else who looks at this thread, take a look at the tags on your laptop and pm me with the info so I can make sure this all checks out. Anyone with a laptop I have not listed, pm with the Sager name and the Clevo model so I can add it. Thanks.

whoa, that was strange, my bottom sticker says 5600P but that is supposed to have an ATI M7 card, and I have a M9. At least I think so, because my bios says it is and I outperform any other M9 on 3dmark2001, based on the results posted in this forum.

My computer is branded "Hyundai 5600D" here in sweden, and it seems logical to me that it is based on a "Clevo 5600D" so I guess the stickers sometimes dont tell the truth?

Man, what is the world coming to when you can't trust the stickers. Your computer is, indeed, a 5600D. I just pulled out my handy user manual which says that the M9 in a 5600D can have 32/64/128 mb of dedicated ram.

4780 model number?

Hi,

Yeah it's early to ask a question like this, but I want to get the hardware manuals for the 4780 before getting my machine. Was looking around on the clevo ftp site and the closest I could find was the 4760/D470W.

Anyone? What clevo model number would I be looking at for the 4780?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's the D480W as you might expect, but I cant see anything on clevo yet. Clevo dont normally update until a month or so after release, so you might have to wait a while, especially for service manuals.

Clevo hasn't released that info yet, but when they do, I'll post it up. Or, when you get your computer, let us all know, and we can add it to the list.

Thanks JM, though I doubt you are in front of your computer doing "work", more likely goofing off in the Forum.

Seriously though, I have been talking to RKingston about his page hosting for images and not what, perhaps we could get him to post the Manuals and Current Drivers as well, maybe also stuff like Henrik's program, lists of things like yours. Having all that stuff in one place at one time would sure be handy. At the very least, have a page of links to everything. I'd be willing to help pay to maintain it. If there's interest, I'll bring it up with RKingston.

Clevo D27es X1

Does anyone know anything about the product in the subject? Does it also have different names at different distributors (I don't even know how this works)?
Uh slendrian, could you rephrase that? Not sure what it is you are asking about? What product in what subject? I am sure there's somebody in here that could answer your question if we know what the question was.

Clevo is a Taiwanese company that builds notebooks. Then companies like Sager, Voodoo, Hypersonic, etc., order those notebooks in bulk and configure them and test them and sell them. PC Torque, as a Sager reseller, then sells Sagers at reduced prices and they handle customer service.

Actually my knowledge is a bit sketchy too, regarding what specifically Sager et al do with the Clevos (do they order many identical Clevos and then handle the customer-specified configuration options, like hard drive, RAM, etc.?) and why resellers sell much cheaper than Sager direct.

Thank you, MARQUISDARQUIS. That's part of what I wanted to know. I'll try to rephrase:

I am considering to buy a CLEVO D27ES X1 here in Hungary. I haven't found any reviews about this product on the web. Then I realized that they might sell these computers with some other brand name (like Sager) in other countries. So I was wondering what the Sager equivalent of this CLEVO would be. The closest I could find is Sager NP2720-A.

But my real question is: can you give me references on CLEVO D27ES X1 ? Or overall on CLEVO. I have never heard of this brand name before, so I don't know how trustworthy it is. It seems to have a very competible price.
Sorry, I'm still a little bit lost.

So, the "thank you" goes to CGameProgrammer and the rest to MARQUISDARQUIS and all the others.

Woah, first post for me in awhile. The Clevo D27ES is the same thing as the Sager 2720. In Europe, you may want to check out Eurocom.com which sells the Viper series.
I really can't say much about Clevo directly. I didn't purchase directly from Clevo or Sagernotebook.com, but through a reseller similar to PCTorque. My 5670, a Clevo 5600D(S), is great and since it was really built by Clevo, I hold Clevo in high regards for a fine product.
Thank you! It seems to me that the difference is that this CLEVO D27ES I have found has a 2GHz processor while the Sagers start from 2.4GHz. Do you know of any disatvantages of CLEVO?

Are these processors upgradeable/extendable? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm really just starting to look into this thing.)

BTW. Are you a user just like me, or is this some kind of a customer service, too?

Thanks for your help again.

The Sager 2720 comes standard with a 2.4 Celeron, the next step up is the 2.0 P4. I believe that the 2720/D27ES can only go up to 2.4, based on the product info from Clevo, but I'm not 100% sure.

And here's a hearty welcome to the forums. I'm just another Sager owner on this forum trying to help out like all the people who have helped me.
