How good is your eyes and how far do you sit from your laptop. If you are used to 1600x1200 on a CRT (which probably have a 16.x viewable), you'll be ok with a WSXGA+ at 1680x1050.

You won't want to to run you LCD at anything other than native res if you can avoid it as it will have bluriness at anything non native.

I was planning on plugging the WUXGA on an lcd screen that has a native resolution of 1600*1200 would that workd out?

WUXGA on a 15.4" laptop screen have a res of 1920x1200 and will be really small. 1600x1200 is not a widescreen res. but if are are talking about hooking up an external monitor to the laptop and running it at 16x12, that should not be a problem.

id vote WSXGA which is 1680x1050...that offers a great deal of real estate. anything smaller may tend to bug your eyes, even if your eyesight is good.

The pixel densities for these screens are the following:
15.4" WUXGA = 147 Pixels Per Inch (PPI)
15.4" WSXGA+ = 129 PPI
15.4" WXGA = 98 PPI

You reference monitor:
17" UXGA = 118 PPI

15.4" WSXGA+ is closest to it in pixel density, so I'd say go for it.
