Very nice, just head to the egg for ram, a burner and a bigger drive and you'll be set up.

egg is taken for ram. burner...not sure..just got 6650 for my 6000D..can't I survive with just one burner?
...same for the hard drive...it is supposed to be a portable multimedia thing, not an editing powerhouse...am I missing something?
Yeah, you don't necessarily need the burner or the bigger hard drive. Personally, I'd buy a hard drive before I bought a DVD burner.
yes, the hard drive will come in handy down the line, and like Freak4Dell said, it may be more vital than a DVD burner, depending on what you ultimate needs are.

Movie storage, you get a few movies in there for travel and you're talking some serious space!

Richard,

You are right of course, but I have two exterhal USB2 notebook drives - 80GB and 60GB. It is about 30 DVD's. Should be close to enough for traveling

That would be a little self defeating for air travel where movies are desparately important to me. The 700m has saved me from hours of boredom both in the air and in hotel rooms. Putting them on the hd saves battery time by avoiding the optical drive and it's nice to not have to be shuffling through disks and elbowing your neighbor anymore than necessary.

Give us a review after you get it!

Once again, you are correct, Richard. I'll probably take out 40GB and put in 80GB.

Will try to do a review once I get it.

Dell makes me spend, spend, spend...Second laptop in 3 weeks..

Wooot just ordered my girlfriend's 700m.

1.7Ghz, 60GB, 8X DVD-RW and a 2 Year Warranty for $706!!

Ordered a 512MB stick of ram from Newegg, 768MB should be plenty for this computer. It's not like it can handle Battlefield 2 anyway

Richard,

I've ordered auto / air adapter. Do I need a big battery too? I can't imagine being not able to find an outlet for more than two hours considering that flights are being taken care of as well as cars...
