You person you!

How VERY TIGHT is TIGHT money wise? Need to give a budget here to work with you. The warranty is absolutely necessary (w/ complete care), think of it as an investment for that big whoops when its about to end.

Maybe you shouldnt be looking at the i9300 if the 40% off right now aint doing miracles for you. Look down at the 6000d and grab all you can.

OR, you could starve it off if its not a school purchase and wait till you can get a good lappy purchase.

I tested the hell out of my laptop during the 21 day return policy.... 24 hours of prime 95, 24 hours of memtest, hd testing, made sure the cd buring worked ok, scanned for dead pixels, blah blah blah.

I diden't need no friggin warranty because I actually have allready voided it overclocking to 2.26ghz.

If you're gonna be traveling with the laptop a lot, get the extended. If it's a desktop replacement w/ little traveling, then the answer's less clear.

Also really depends on how long you'll keep it. I'm a budget gamer, but i get antsy and i'm always buying new stuff. My last laptop i had only 10 months before i wanted to upgrade, the one before that 6 months. If you plan on keeping it a long time, get the longer warranty so you're not screwed, but if you're like me and plan on selling it, what''s the point? save some $ and just get a year. I don't recommend going under that though, just in case...

i've known people who went ahead and only kept the standard 1 year warranty without second thoughts. However, money was a factor in their decision, as is yours, and therefore that might be the deciding factor.

do you want to pay for a new notebook if you drop it?

Just a FYI CC is not availble if you live in NY or FL.

If you own a home your home insurance may cover it. According to my agent they'll cover any PC damage within the house or yard as long as you notify them up front that you have and want your PCs covered. Different companies have different rules so you'll have to check with your agent to see whats covered and what isnt.

i got the standard warranty
and then in the mail like 2 weeks later they gave me a special discount if i upgraded

4 year warranty for only 170 dollars
i suggest u wait (regular warantee not accidental)

I think in this rapidly changing PC market a 4 year warranty is totally domb.
However going with a 2 year one is advisable.

How about: they're also for people who have better things to do than tinker with some piece of electronics?

price of 4 year platinum warranty: $400
price of a new laptop if something breaks: $2000
price i have to pay *if* something happens to my laptop in over 3 years to get it replaced: NOTHING

sounds like a good deal to have a laptop for the next 6 years. Plus i can always sell it.

It's very easy to spill something on a laptop, so it makes sense to get the complete care.

Except in New York (not allowed).

If you are going to be taking it alot of places get the warranty. If you're really on a budget though you might as well just get a cheap gaming desktop for half the price of what you would paid for the 9300, or go with one of the 650$ 6000d laptops.

If youre on a budget you can easily find dell coupons for 750 off an inspiron laptop. No you do not need to purchase an extended warranty, I got the 1 year mail in warranty and always have the option during that first year to buy an extended warranty later on if I wanted too. I bought mine for just under 1500 dollars which is a great deal for all it's features that you wont find anywhere else for that price. If you get a 9300 I highly recommend you get the nvidia 6800 go card , dont skimp on the video card as its too costly to buy later and thats IF you can buy it later. Order your system with the minimum 256 megs of memory and buy your memory elsewhere you will save a hundred dollars this way. You could get a configuration like mine or get the 1.6 ghz processor and save an additional two hundred dollars over my configuration cost.
Happy shopping!!
