Which Sager?

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum, and knew to laptops in general.

Well, I have been researching them extensively lately and I think sager is going to be my lappy of choice..

One problem, I can not decide on the 8887(think thats right) or the 5660.

I am going to be using my lappy for games, and I do want the best screen to go w/ my lap...

as far as teh 8887, I really dont care about the tv tuner, and the removable mp3 player, as i already have an mp3 player...

I do like the fact that it has a larger screen though..

So far I am leaning twds the 5660 becasue it is the cheaper of the two, and I am on a budget...

But, as far as the 5660 gos, should i go w/ the better screen that bumps the resolution up to 1600 x 1200? Or should I go w/ the standard one.

I have seen a lot of posts regarding what looks best w/ games, but I do not quite understand it all that much...

Basically, for playing games at high resolution, what screen would be best for me?

And are there any huge reasons I should get the 8887 over the 5660... like i said, the mp3 and tv tuner mean nothing to me..

Thanks so much everyone,

hope to become a valuable member to the forum.

I went 5660 not 8887 because:

1. 5660 cheaper

2. 5660 is faster (slightly for gfx - higher default [and stable] clock)

3. 5660 looks better (the 5660 is big enough as it is - prostetically, and I mean prostetically I wouldn't want it any fatter, but I know half the people don't care about the looks of their laptop, and apparently the 8886 has a good design anyway. I have to carry around and display my laptop at school to different classes, so it suits my needs more to be less fat.)

4. 5660 can get custom colouring

5. I don't need the TV tuner

6. I don't need the MP3 player

7. I like the option of being able to have dual batteries with the 5660

8. I don't need a larger screen. I think having larger screens makes the laptop look to fat. Take the Sony Vaio with the 16.1 inch screen. It looks way out of proportion aye. Not a good look, even though its only 1.2" thick, just way to fat, and only because of the screen.

Looking back on the info, i achknowledge that it all is very opinionated, and probably wouldn't help you much considering it is all based on my need and wants.

As far as the SXGA+ versus UXGA, I reckon the SXGA+ is better, as it is more suited to the 15inch screen. If you wanted UXGA you really do need a larger screen. So if you go with the 8887 with the 16.1 incher make sure you get the UXGA. =D As far as high res on games ure not going to get anywhere near UXGA let alone SXGA+. Probably SXGA, maybe SXGA+ if the game supports it.

oooooooooooo

I forgot to tell you...

I don't have my 5660 yet

Its currently flying over the pacific ocean to me

So all the comments I have made are probably a little ushered over by the fact that i'm brimming with anticipation and excitment and relief. Relief that I'm replacing my desktop, with a laptop that will probably outperform it two fold.

My desktop is Athlon XP 1700+ (1.4GHz)
256 DDR266
40GB 5400 RPM HDD
32MB SiS Video Card ( lol dunno whether it can be called a video card its sooo crap, worse than a Ge Force 2 MX 200 32MB
and the worst 17inch CRT there is in the world. probably like 14.7 inch viewable.
