My suggestion, if you want to keep yourself happy with $6000,
1. Buy a Dell XPS2 loaded ($2500)
2. Invest the $3500 you save by not buying the Voodoo system.
3. Sell the Dell in 1 year
4. Buy a new $2500 top of the line (but non-premium -- as in, no +$500 paintjob) system -- not necessarily Dell
$6000 will last you MUCH longer this way and you'll be able to have a powerhouse machine every single year.
If you figure that notebook systems depreciate on average $300-400 after the first year, that $6000 can get you a high end system every year for at least the next decade to come.
A better deal than spending it all on a 1st revision dual core system that will get surpassed in less than 2 years.
edit: well, I just read your last posts. Have fun with the Voodoo. It looks to be a great machine.
Maybe you can get the Voodoo system, sell it off NIB on eBay, and follow my above advice
