Pioneer K05 Slot Load - Page 2

Imho 700m as a travel machine needs it. No chance to accidentally break this tiny tray.

Can't wait for the pictures, can someone help this guy to post them please?

Somms,

I've been there. I want to see how the drive is installed into 700m.

just to give you a quick photo. this is the panasonic uj845b. if the pics are fuzzy, it's b/c i'm using my razr camera phone and i have film on the lense and i wasn't concerned about how the pics turned out since you just wanted to see what it looks like. the second photo is how far the disc goes in before the feeding mechanism kicks in. sorry about the reflection of my phone's cover photo...not bad for camera phone

Thank you. What I am interested in is how you get rid of Dell's enclosure using the blade.

I am sure I am able to do it. Still, nice picture won't hurt.

I am rethinking my 6650 now. I already had couple of cases when I could just break the tray on my 6000D. It might be eBayed..Amazingly, eBay has none of 6650 and very few 6500...

using the blade? don't know what you are talking about.

care to look up for this post?

the 700m uses a plastic housing that goes around the two sides, the back and then the bottom of the front. as seen in the photo, the bottom front where the arrow points is glued down. if you take a razor blade and slide it underneath it, it will come off easily. if you try pulling up from the side you may either break the plastic bezel or bend the thin metal attached to between the plastic and the glue. there are two screws on each side and two screws in back. the existing drive has the adapter connector, which you will just remove and use on the new drive.

Yep, there are screws as well. I haven't ever taken the housing of one of these drives, but there are definately screws and possibly adheasive too.

Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted to know.

OK, k05 now lives in my brand new 700m. Slot load is sweet. Ordered a second one for 6000D.

will these work on the I6000 w/ just plugging it in? Also, where is a good place to purchase these at? Are there any that are the silver color and not black?

Answers:

- yes. You have to take out a piece from your original drive and put it on K05.
- I got mine for $96 shipped from thenerds.net.
- they all are black as far as I know.

Will this work in an i8600 without modifications?
Hey Maine Coon, do you by chance have any pics of the drive in your I6000? How does the black look? Does it stick out like a sore thumb?

Thanks,

Will

Don't have pictures yet. Man, 700m only arrived yesterday.
6000D does NOT have a drive yet.
In my view it does not stick out at all. In your it might be different. Someone has posted pictures of K05 in their 700m. Do a search and you'll find it.

Why would a black drive stick out on the i6000? the existing drive is black anyway?!

Alright, thanks buddy. I'll perform that search now. But you have it in your 6000 and it looks good by your standards.

NO!!!! I have it on 700M and yes, it does look good to me.

Second one for 6000D did not come it yet.

But since 6000D is NOT a travel machine, I don't really care much how it looks.

Sorry if this all is confusing.

Gotcha, sorry I'm a little slow this evening. I meant your 700M, just got mixed up. Off to order it!
