6160 vs 5660

I'm going to get a sager 5660 or 6160. Of course I want the 5660 but money is an issue. I'm not going to be gaming much with it or doing graphics intensive stuff. I need a workstation, as fast as I can afford. The 6160 video concerns me, shared memory, will that slow the machine down alot?? How does the 6160 with a 2.4 chip compare to the 5660?

Integrated graphics is not made for gaming... It's made to handle the display for the operating system and office apps and maybe some movies... lol, shared memory is MUCH slower than dedicated memory and it takes memory from the system, so it can't be used there. It will play games.. like Half-life and quake3 and such, but don't expect it to handle simcity4, doom3, or unreal2 very well if at all... Just judge based on what gaming you plan on doing :-) Apart from that, the system is a beast, built for office work and processor-intensive apps.

If you're not going to use it for graphics intensive stuff, then just go ahead and get the 6160. You might not even need the 6160; you could probably find something cheaper that fits your needs.
