2915 ABG Problem

Is there any way to fix this? I just received my new 6000D which I'm in love with, but I made the mistake of going with 2915 instead of the 2200. Is the "connection drop" problem still unresolved or are there solutions to fix this? Please help, thanks.

Hmm, I don't experience any dropped connections. I haven't heard anything about this, so it's news to me. I have the 2915 and I love it. Sorry to hear that, I know I would be frustrated.

i have this card and mine always drops even with the latest drivers. After various emails to intel they dont think there is an issue! I recommend you get the older A08 driver.. this has no dropouts, however my laptop gets the BSOD every so often with this driver.

I think i'm going to get back to Dell and ask to exchange it for the Dell 1400 as my old laptop i8600 had the 1300 wifi and it was faultless.

I've seen many people complain about the 2915 dropping connections, but I've never had any problems with it (knock on wood). I guess I must be lucky.

You could always call Dell and see if they would be willing to send you an exchange part. If they're reluctant, you could always threaten to return the laptop and see if that changes their attitude.

I also have the dropping connections with my 2915abg. You can try switching the antenna from MAIN to AUX because tThat helped a bit for me. But i still experience the dropping connections, especially when i am in my room. There is just something weird with my room i think because i receive no cellular signal either. I have to walk out of my room to the livingroom to get connection. Also, when i go to my friend's house the speed tends to fluctuate a bit, but it has improved a lot as compared to before when i had the antenna on MAIN. I have also tried exchanging the card and it still experiences the same thing. But the only technical support i got from my manufacturer was to switch the antenna to AUX. I believe there is nothing else they could do. We really have to turn our hopes to intel. ANother solution for you is to buy a new card that works for your laptop. I ordered an Athero 5005 and hopefully it will arrive this week. I will let you know how it goes with my new card this week. You can leave me a message and i'll let you know how it goes.

I received my AR5005GS today. I installed it and the signal has improved a lot. No more dropping connections and no more fluctuating signals. This thing rocks. Now i just gotta sell my 2915abg card.

The latest drivers are good. No problems at all since update. 2915 is fantastic.

been using my 2915 a/b/g for almost 4 months now, never had the connection drop problem.

I had the 2200, and it was crap. Dropped connections, and dreadful transfer rates. Just swapped it for a Gigabyte GN-WIAG01 108Mbit card and it rocks!!

well i was wrong, I uninstalled ALL of the drivers for the 2915 card, and then downloaded the 46 mb file for 9.0.2.25 which includes the Intel wireless manager (newer version) and installed all this. Now it works PERFECT i was downloading 120kb/s on my cable modem (which is normal for my cable connection)....and i did some bandwidth tests and all are giving me better than average cable speed results...
