Wireless sucks. In my house we have a very nice DSL connection. Back when we first got it, I hooked it up to my PC directly and was getting about 2.5 Mbits downstream. However, there was the issue of... my family. The greedy bastards wanted in on my wealth too. So what we did was get a DLINK wireless router. I really wanted to get a complete wired setup, but my parents didn't want to run cables all over the place.
After hooking up the connection to the router, and getting cards for everyone, I tried the connection again on my PC, and I was lucky when I got 400 Kbits. It was really sad. And this was all with no one else using the connection. Also, with the wireless router installed, whenever I load up a web page, there's this little annoying "delay" before the thing goes through. It's not a matter of connection speed, it's another issue with the router. I don't know if this is a problem everywhere (I think so), but in any case, our router used 802.11b.
If I had the choice, I would go wired all the way. Wireless is useful for places like a school library or an airport, but in my opinion it still sucks quite a bit. We need higher transfer rates and to eliminate those annoying delays at the start of the transfer. Anybody got any similar experiences?
