Ways to clean the display? - Page 2

you can buy Iklear from Amazon and other online vendors. Basically as long as what cleaner you're using doesn't have amonia and you use a optical quality wipe, things should be fine. I just bought Iklear/ klearscreen because i hate streaks and i am anal about not scratching or streaking my LCD.

I do think that water and lint-free cloth works just fine. But people here have a dedicated cleaning agent for EVERYTHING, thought I'd try it out so... it could be a psychological thing but I do notice that my screen attracts less dust. Btw I'm in Hamburg, Germany, so I'm not sure if this thing I'm using has found its way to your shelves. It's called "Clean!" LCD screen cleaner from ED Net AG Flörsheim. I'm sure you have equivalent products though.

those 3M microfiber cloths work really well, use a notebook approved cleaner if need be along with the microfiber cloth, these cloths are sold for cd cleaning and for notebooks, the only diff is the size of the cloth.

Cheers

Monster Screenclean works very well. It is kind of expensive but it does not take much to do the job. It should last a long time and it comes with a cleaning cloth. It leaves no streaks and it repels dust.

I went to best buy got the Falcon Safety Products - Dust-Off Monitor wipes, the first time I used them It left the screen looking smeared with greese and after freeking out I tried them again but this time with a little more elbow greese and the screen came out fine. The wipe starts out pretty damp but after you wipe it dries up and the streaks also will dry up with a little dust off in a can.

I bought the Kensington Lint Free wipes. They suck so I don't recommend buying them. They tend to leave behind any moisture on the screen and I end up having to wet the cloth and wipe about 5 times.

Anything that is micro fiber works great as other people have suggested. I find using one that is slightly damp in one corner works well. Use the rest of that cloth to wipe some of the excess moisture and then have another cloth for the final polish.

But my advice is stay away from any lint cloths that have perforated holes. They suck at picking up any left behind moisture.

Soaking something soft and non-abrasive (old T-shirt) in diluted ispropyl (sp?) alcohol (1 part 70% alcohol and 2-3 parts water) worked wonderful for me.
