D610: works fine at 1280x768?

I'm planning to get a D610 with XGA+ screen but I'd set it to more
confortable 1280x768 (WXGA).

I'd like to hear from D610's owners (with XGA+ screen)
if it's possible set resolution to 1280x768 with no issues.

D610 can come in XGA or SXGA+. No XGA+ and no WXGA.

XGA is 1024x768
SXGA+ is 1400x1050

Those are your decisions...

In general, it's possible to run with resolutions other than the native, but I wouldn't recommend it. Usually, the lower (non-native) resolutions can appear blurry and may lose some of the aspect ratio making the fonts very difficult to read.

What you want to do is not possible. ie. you cannot run at higher than the native resolution. Of course that is no problem with an external CRT monitor. You can run a LCD screen at lower than the native resolution but then it will be less clear. Go for the SXGA+, and run it as it was designed (in native resolution). If you end up finding the typeface is too small for you, then adjust it through ppi setting until it suits you.

So you suggest to go with SXGA+ instead of XGA+ anyay?
1024x768 is "too large" for a 14"? Is it?

Get the SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen. You can view so much more information on it compared to the XGA (1024x768).

You can't set either of them (XGA or SXGA+) to 1280x768 as this is a 4x3 screen, not 16x9.
