you can make a bootable cd in nero or some other program and put the bios files in the cd. restart and make sure you have your bios setup so that the cd drive is the first boot option and then it should guide you the rest of the way. it'd probably be wise to verify the files after burning. i've also heard of some people using a usb floppy drive but i don't have one so i did it with a bootable cd.

I tried this, and the computer still boots to XP. I have the 3 files burned to a CD, the BIOS set correctly to read the CD first. Any tips?

My story is that I RMA'd the 1029 back to CyberPower complaining of the computer freezing even after I (correctly and sufficiently) applied Arctic Silver to the CPU and GPU. They simply reinstalled the OS and sent it back to me, and I doubt they performed any burn in test, which I specifically requested. When I called them back today, they told me to use only 1 stick of (512MB Geil) memory, in different slots. Well, after trying all 6 permutations of memory configurations (stick A into slot B, etc), I still can't find something that won't freeze up...

I have the MT-40 and the 7200RPM HD in addition to the Bluetooth/wifi module which doesn't help matters.

The manufacturer should not have released a machine this unstable.

Did you create bootable CD in Nero before burning 3 files on it?
You can also use bios for Targa Traveller 826 (clone of MSI MS-1029). It's distributed as bootable CD image. You can get it here

Better bluetooth drivers than BlueSoleil

BlueSoleil has given me nothing but trouble since I got this laptop, and with multiple phones I've had serious connection problems. My T-Mobile Dash and ActiveSync were the last straw so I started looking for an alternative.

Here it is: http://download.msi.com.tw/support/d...ongle_0331.zip

This driver does not support all of the profiles that the latest BlueSoleil does but it is a basic driver for the MSI combo wifi/bt card that was shipped with many of these laptops. It allows the XP SP2 default bluetooth features to work well and without all the unnecessary fuss of BlueSoleil. I've been very pleased so far with this setup so hopefully this info will be helpful to someone out there. If someone knows a better option please feel free to reply with that info so long as you don't recommend BlueSoleil - never again!

New Bios 2.70

I've bought second memory stick, and after installing it, system became very unstable. I've flashed my bios with 2.70v and problem disapeared. I also noticed that the laptop is less noisy.

I don't have USB floppy drive, so I created boot cd in nero as some of you have mentioned here before.
