Recommendations Requested: Laptop Cooler or Stand for 17"

My 4760 will be arriving on Wednesday of next week. Can any of the forum members please recommend a laptop cooler (with fans) or laptop stand (no fans -- just raise my Sager off my desk surface) that will work with the weight and width of the 4760?

Thanks!

First off Congrats on a fine choice for a laptop. May it serve you well.

I ordered one of these along with my 5680. It works fairly well on the desk as well as on the lap (keeps the vents from being blocked by your legs and from the hot air blowing onto them). Another nice feature is the size (very portable) even with the mouse extention.

Hope that helps.

And here's a few nanas for your soon to arrive 4760. May it appease the pixel Gods.

Thanks for Your Advice and the Nanas

Bok79 and Computer_Potato:

I just ordered The Laptop Desk, the cooler / stand you mentoned in your posts. I had thought that LapWorks, Inc. was the manufacturer, but maybe not ...

Many sites sell the product and mention The Laptop Desk by LapWorks, Inc. Targus, however, also sells the product, renamed and under the Targus brand.

I ordered from Targus -- no sales tax, plus their standard shipping is FedEx 2-day for $5.90. It will be interesting to see from what state Targus ships the laptop desk to me. Targus' US headquarters is located in Southern California, about 45-minutes from my home. Since they're not charging any sales tax, they're probably shipping my order from a warehouse in Nevada.

Thanks for your advice.

Nanas to all who have Sagers on order.

You asked why I didn't wait for the 4780. mondu Construct asked me the same thing in another thread.

Here's why ...

I'm not a gamer. I'm a computer consultant. I do the Technical Editing of Flash MX 2004 manuscripts for industry publishers such as Sybex and friends of ED. I also create Flash animations, Flash games for children, and I design Web sites. This is how I earn a living. I purchased the 4760 as a work tool.

Macromedia Studio MX 2004 (which includes Flash) was released on October 10, 2003. The industry authors are rushing to have their books published.

I received a contract for the Technical Editing of an ActionScript 2.0 book. (ActionScript is the scripting language that's native to Flash.) The editing of the manuscript is scheduled to begin this week. Technical Editing contracts / deadlines don't want for new laptop models to be released and shipped.

Another reason I didn't wait for the 4780 -- I didn't need the new features (the features that are the "difference" between the 4760 and the 4780). Those features are not needed by professional Web designers. If I keep the 4760 strictly as a machine for work, I'm more likely to be able to deduct the cost of the laptop as a business expense if it does not contains features that I don't use for business.
