Hmm this is a good question...

I'm on my first one so I couldnt tell ya, but hopefully it will last me until I need to get something that supports 64 bit.

In the last 3 years I have gotten a new one every year, so basically once a year.

once a year, or two is about the norm for me

If you dont mind me asking, what do you guys do with your old laptops? Sell them or just keep them?

I have had about 8 laptops in a year and half.

I keept the old laptop, that´s why I have two now.

I am still wondering if I really like the T41p more than the M60 to be honest.

Iv had my first computer in 1998, a desktop...Then got a IBM laptop in 2000...Then a Toshiba Sattelite P3 Laptop in 2001 and then a Mac Mini in 2005 and now im getting The Asus Z70v refresh...So I just get a new one once the old one gets slow...Except the Asus, thats a gift since i needed a PC

4 laptops in 5 years... old ones are saved as backups for emergencies or for little projects like recording radio shows.

Mainly I upgrade to get a better GPU... hoping my next unit will last 3 years if I get a Sager or Dell XPS as far as games are concerned.

I've bought three since last November but kept an old HP N3110 I got in 2000 until then. I just can't resist these prices! I need to get rid of a couple of them, they're stacking up on me.

well i just bout by first notebook a few months ago, but i change my desktops every 2-3 years.

Not very often.

I had a Sager 5690 before this i9300 I have now. I wasn't to impressed with the Sager so I sold it and bought a SFF home PC. Outgrew that because I needed something more mobile, so I bought this i9300 and have loved it so I don't plan on selling it for a good while.

I've always been poor so, I change laptops whenever I can get something better. When I started college (1994) my dad gave me his old toshiba T1100 I think it was (not even a 386 in it). Then I got a packard bell statelsman with a 486 in 97 when I graduated. Then in 99 I bought a refurbished Toshiba with a 166MHz Pentium, and August about two years ago I got another Toshiba with a P3 600MHz. But now that I'm finishing my PhD in a month and will get a real salary I plan on getting a brand new laptop, and will probably change it as I feel the newer tech is worth the upgrade. The first one probably won't happen until 64bit goes mainstream in a year or two (AS I SEE IT. Please I don't want to start another 64bit argument).

Heh, you'd be lucky if you're not chafing to upgrade after 2 years.
