Windows CD?

Well I have seriously given thought to ordering a 5780, but I was wondering this. Does Sager actually give you a Windows XP Pro CD or some kind of recovery CD with CAB files on it some where. Just curious.

All that came with my 5680 was a recovery CD for Win XP Pro.

The 5680 is the only way to go (actually I would have gone for the 8890 but couldn't wait for the screens to come back in stock). Call up PCT and take the plunge. You won't regret it.

oops I meant 5680. Yeah I really like the unit. I just wanted to know that if I ever upgrade to a new laptop will I be able to use that recovery CD on a different system, or is it only used for that particular model.

You can get a full install disk from here for a lot less than the price you pay to have it preinstalled. Then you have an actual WinXP disk. I did it and it worked perfectly.

its only 78$ from pct. They give you the full cd ,,,,just labeled with the notebooks manufacturer. It gives everything offered on a full xp cd. As to whether or not it can opnly be used on one laptop, im not sure.

XP HOME is only $78 from PCT. The link I provided if for XP PRO which PCT sells for $150.

And a "restoration" CD is not exactly the same as a full install CD.

I could live with a restoration cd if there was no other choice, but there is a choice. When you couple that fact with the savings involved - to me it's a no brainer.

your point is well taken with the xp pro But the cd offered through pct is not a recovery cd. It is a basic windows cd with nothing less and nothing more. The cd label says midern computers tho. Thats the only difference. You get all the same options when you insert the cd,,,,doesnt read anything differently on the screen or anything.

But if you're in for xp pro,,,,buy a separate copy from the link provided.

I take it then that the version of windows that Sager gives you is a OEM version right? Is there any difference between that and the retail version? (other than all the packaging)

No difference except the packaging.
