Mac Noob needs little help....

Hi guys, I have me a an "old" new G4 notebook. Well, I been playing around with it and I wanted to convert my Babylon 5 DVD set into a single DVD, ie. make all episodes an AVI. and burn them on to a single DVD (so I dont have to carry the box set with me, if i want to watch an episode or two, I travel allot).

Anyhoo, I used thingy called MacRipper to get my VOB files. But for the life of me I cant find any software that would take those vobs and turn them into avi files. If any of you guys know of such a beast let me know please.

thanx in adavnce for any help.

Popcorn.

I have a similar question to Fever's... I do have Popcorn and have tried dragging the Video_TS directory into it but I only see an option to burn to a DVD -- it does not allow you (unless I'm mistaken) to convert the VOBs into an AVI file.

If anyone has any other helpful ideas, please do post them here as I'm running into similar problems!

I know of software for the PC that will do that (i've been running into the same problem and found this first) from AoAmedia that works excellently however you do have to purchase it (unless you find a cd key)

Oh, my bad...I misread the OP.

Popcorn is only for shrinking DVD video to fit on 4gb disks.

As for converting DVD video to AVI, Quicktime Pro should be able to do it for you.

Really? I had no idea Quicktime pro would do that... interesting

hmmm, yeh, i didn't know QT pro could handle VOB and associated files appropriately...

It should but don't quote me.

I've had good luck with Handbrake. It will convert DVDs, VIDEO_TS folders, or whatever to MPEG-4, H.264, AVI, or Ogg. Plus, its Free.

I second the recommendation for handbrake. Also, for files that are already converted to avi, or wmv or other such things, use ffmpegx to convert them to another format.
