575 Core
1450 Memory
For a 6818 3DMark05 Run

On a daily gaming basis I run 500/1250 all day long.
Also showman do you know how to keep the card from clocking down when it hits 96 Celcius?
Later,
Josh

Run the CSS bench with the settings I have.

No, I wish I did, and I can't get fangui to work right. The fans don't kick on high when I tell them too. If they are on high they go back to slow for no reason.

Anyone know why? It's hard to run ati tool when the card is throttling. Even with direct fan control they still go back to slow.

I've got this really old, large box fan laying around here so I figured I'd try that to see if I could cool it down any. With the same settings you have, I ran a 80.91 with the fan, and then without it I ran a 81.62. The GPU temps didn't really show any change, so I don't think the fan worked..heh. Also useing 450/1006 speeds with 77.77 drivers. Currently idleing at 65 degrees, which is a first, heh.

Your idle is too high, how hot is your room?

80fps Seems to be average for stock... also are you clocked at 450/1060 or 450/1006?

I'm in my basement, so it should be pretty cool down here. It was clocked at 450/1060. It was like 1.06 GHz. Now I just tried 3DMark05 with the fan at 450/1.06Gz(1060 I think) and I got a 4840. My idle temps are down to 54 degrees now (GPU)

Have you adjusted the Performance and Quality Settings?

Right click desktop>Nvidia Display>Laptop Display
On the left you should see Performance and Quality Settings
Click it Where it says image settings on the right, click that
Adjust the slider to High Performance, apply and OK
Make sure the other settings are set to application controlled.

Default is set to quality. don't notice any difference between quality and High Performance. see what that gives ya.

I have the same problem here- fans come on high then when I start gaming they slow down-any idea's on how to keep fans on high?
With the changed settings, I got a 4407. GPU temp is now 72 instead of the lower 60s it was eairler.
That score is terrible... LOL. I get 5250s with all bloatware and dell drivers
post #31 of 64
So youre done with dell drivers shoman? Anyway...yeah fangui fans 7 times out of 10 slow down so just use the profiles to control speed...set it so gpu goes over 60 and profile turns gpu fan (fan 2) to high...the profiles arent perfect but theyre good to maintain good cpu and gpu temps relative to what youre doin...(i9kfangui for me of course)

Edit: Acutally my gpu fan is always on high since extra noise from it isnt noticeable to me...cpu fan set to turn on high at 35 (my idle temps are really low for xps2 so the cpu fan almost never goes to high unless gaming...setting cpu fan (fan 1) to go on high at around 45 may be more reasonable

Well the dell drivers weren't performing like they should. I mean 6k in 3Dmark05 at 500/1300.... thats pretty good....

yeah i love 80.40 (but i only bios modded 2 times)...i have to have a more feasible method to overclock as I want to able to manually change clocks within matter of seconds

Edit: If a Bios-locked 7800go is available for upgrade i wont be getting it...if its offered it better be like 6800go in 9300...The irony is that more people are goin to break their cards bios flashing than oc'ing (in short term at least) IMO

Care to share that more feasible method to OC?

Bleh it's hard to run the error scanning in ATi Tool when the card keep reaching threshold
post #36 of 64
I had coolbits auto-overclock my card, it put it at 450/1060. I'm also using the newest dell drivers. I pull about 5300 in 3Dmark 05. I prefer to not test the limits of my card, since it's still able to run all the newest games at very respectable framerates at high detail, and I want to get the most longevity out of my card as possible.
I also have a pacific breeze cooler, and AS5 on both CPU & GPU.

oh yea, I idle at around 56 degrees celcius, and the max I've seen my card go is 82 degrees. I'm mostly in the mid 70's during heavy gaming. I'd get really nervous if I saw my card go into the 90s.

95c and the card clocks down for me

haha, I could definately push it harder, but I need my system to last 6 months overseas. If it dies prematurely, I won't be able to replace it in my situation. Soo, I'm going more for stability over speed.
When I get back home however, I'm all about taking this thing to the limits.
