What's the real deal on installing new drivers?

Hey all,

I'm just wondering, is it always best to uninstall old video drivers before installing new ones, or only when you've been running into problems with your existing drivers. I don't remember ever uninstalling video drivers on my older systems, but I've read about a number of people who advise it.

Thanks

You always want to uninstall old drivers before intalling new versions. The reason being is that there can be settings or remaining files from the old drivers that were not overwritten which can conflict and interfere with the new drivers. It can cause errors and sometimes even blue screens (although rare).
