Well, I can't really say yet. I'm waiting on my 1GB RAM stick, OS CD to format and clean install, and an external hard drive enclosure so I can transfer all of my stuff from my desktop. I dig the design and the keyboard and trackpad feel great. Even with only 256 MB of RAM, the thing flys along nicely with everyday things (Word, Firefox, browsing hard drive). I haven't gamed at all yet on it, but I ran 3DMark2005 and only got a score of 2802. That's stock w/ all of Dell's Bloatware and 256 MB of RAM. Any thoughts on that? I know a lot of 9300 owners are getting someone in the high 4000's. I'm hoping the increase in RAM & fresh install w/ new drivers will boost me up a bit.

On a really positive note, I noticed that the laptop was getting better than expected battery life. ~2h45min of quoted battery life on the 6 cell battery just doing internet stuff (wireless on) and screen brightness at about 50% of full (the default battery brightness). I'll have to test this time more thoroughly though.

An additional note: I noticed the light leakage from the display right away. Kind of annoyingly bright along the bottom of the screen and there is some odd color issues center top that looks like two lighter circles with a dark black line in between. I’ll get a picture up here when I get home. Also, there is one dead pixel (perma-black), down near the bottom left of the screen (on the start bar)…it’s barely noticeable, so I don’t think that’s a huge issue. But, the coloration issues and the light leakage may drive me to ask Dell for a new screen…good thing I have the 2 year @ home warranty! Oh yeah, I have the Samsung 5857 (see my sig.).

Does anyone know how/why light leakage seems to miraculously go away for most people? Wondering about the mechanics of it here.
