Sweet! I will try this out on my 5690 (MR9700)

I hope they add support for the MR9000 soon!

I do hope this works
THANKS!
Anyone try these out yet?
Nice!!

It is funny that in the website they say it supports only ATI Xsomething...

I will try it later and post if I notice any difference.
Meanwhile, you can read this:

I tried to install them on my 9860 with ATI x800, but they refused to install. I got the "no video card found" error.

RottGutt,

I'm concerned about your driver cleaning methods. Especially the use of Cab Cleaner. I'd like to know more details of exactly what steps were taken to install these drivers. More importantly, what unnecessary steps were taken to remove your previous drivers. Were they the same steps you took here?

http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...062#post728062

The 9860's X800 Device ID is 5D4A, which is available in the .inf file of these drivers. Theoretically, they should install without issue.
I installed it yesterday.

First time I used the ATI control panel. Takes a while to load when I click it. Also, it adds some services that I didn't like (I keep the amount of services running to a bare minimum).

For gaming, a noticed a little improvement in GW (which is the only game I play currently...) over the Omega drivers.

I uninstalled the ATI Control Panel thru Add/Remove Programs, then tried to install the new drivers. The post you referenced here is a few months old, when I tried to install some Omega drivers. Would you happen to have a link/instructions on exactly how to get these things to install correctly? The only drivers I can get to install are the ones on Sager's site. Thanks!

Have you reinstalled your OS at anytime after using Cab Cleaner? If you haven't, please compare your driver.cab and sp1.cab or sp2.cab in the C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386 folder with the files in the i386 folder on your Windows CD. If the file sizes don't match, I would replace the files with the files from the Windows CD.

These files are where Windows finds the standard VGA driver.

I can't be sure if your problem lies here, but we need to start somewhere.

Inconel,

I finally got them to install correctly following these steps:

1. I uninstalled all ATI components from my Add/Remove section.
2. Rebooted into "Safe Mode" and used Driver Cleaner Pro to clean all ATI stuff from my computer.
3. Used DH Modtool to mod the official drivers to work with my NP9860.
4. Loaded the drivers.

I will follow these same steps from now on when I install new video drivers.

Incidentally, I now have a graphic problem with these new drivers when playing BF2. It seems that the screen does not refresh as fast as it used to, because I get a "wave" effect when I turn fast ot if there is a lot of action on the screen. I might just go back to the stock drivers that are posted on Sager's web site. Also, I DID install the ATI Control Panel, but it is nowhere to be found under my Display properties, where it usually is.

RottGutt,

It certainly does not sound like you have them installed correctly. Please answer the question in my previous post. I'm trying to figure out if Driver Cleaner has made it impossible for Windows to install its default driver after uninstall of the Catalysts. Have your cab files been modified? Check the file sizes against your Windows CD.

I've just installed the new 5.8 drivers for my mobility 9700 on my 3790 but the resolution is maxed out at 1024x768 where i was able to get 1280x768 with my previous drivers. does anyone know why this is?
inconel,

I have the same error with my m9700 64mb. I just checked the cab file sizes and the one on the CD is actually smaller than the one on my hard drive. 73MB vs 117MB. So I am quite wary of just replacing the cab on my hard disk with the one on the CD, as I don't want anything that is currently needed to go missing...

I think I may have run the cab cleaner once, but i'm not sure.

Just to let people know I successfully installed them on my 5690 (MR9700 128mb)

Installed flawlessly on my 9880 with the x800.

It's difficult to understand why this is. For some reason the definitions in DALNonStandardModesBCD2, where 1280x768 is available, are not being read. The problems may have been caused by other driver installs, but to determine that, you would have to do a clean install of XP.

To correct the issue, you will need to modify CX_25207.inf. If you allowed the default extraction path, then you will find the file in C:\\ATI\\Support\\5-8-mobile_xp_dd_ccc_enu_25207\\Driver\\XP_INF

Open CX_25207.inf with notepad and scroll down to the area starting with [ati2mtag_M10_SoftwareDeviceSettings]. A few lines further down you will find the section for NonStandardModes.

Remove...

Code:
HKR,, DALNonStandardModesBCD1, %REG_BINARY%,07,20,04,80,00,00,00,60,07,20,04,80,00,00,00,75,07,20,04,80,00,00,00,85,07,20,05,76,00,00,00,00,08,48,04,80,00,00,00,60,08,48,04,80,00,00,00,75,08,48,04,80,00,00,00,85,12,80,07,20,00,00,00,60

And replace with...

Code:
HKR,, DALNonStandardModesBCD1, %REG_BINARY%,12,80,08,00,00,00,00,00,12,80,06,00,00,00,00,60,12,80,07,68,00,00,00,60,14,00,10,50,00,00,00,60
HKR,, DALRestrictedModesBCD1, %REG_BINARY%,17,92,13,44,00,00,00,00,18,00,14,40,00,00,00,00,19,20,10,80,00,00,00,00

Save the file, then uninstall the 5.8s.
After reboot, install the 5.8s again by using setup.exe in the 5-8-mobile_xp_dd_ccc_enu_25207 directory.

By doing this, you replace the NonStandardModes of the 5.8s with the NonStandardModes provided in the original Clevo drivers.

Which error are you speaking of? Do you have the same problem as seraphn or as RottGutt? Your mention of cab files leads me to believe you have a similar problem as RottGutt, but your post followed seraphn's. So I'm uncertain. Please be more specific.

I installed these drivers on my 4750 which has the Mobility 9700. Everytime I boot windows I get an error that says "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application." The application is CLI.exe which I know is for the ATI Catalyst Control Center. If I need to just uninstall them and reinstall, how should I do it? Can I just go to add/remove programs and uninstall like that and then reinstall? Thanks in advance for any advice.

:EDIT: Sorry about that Inconel. I read your post but I forgot I didn't have .Net installed yet.

My original post states that Microsoft .NET Framework is required. If this has not been installed, it is the source of this problem.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 as well as .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.

The "ATI - Software Uninstall Utility" is all that is needed to be selected in the Add/Remove programs list to remove all ATI software.
