Ok,,Ive had my Asus for about 2 days now and it has major problems,,,,NOTHING loads up,,no programs,,,NOTHING....It just loads up XP and then its like its locked from there. And I cant shut down or do a restart,,,I have to hit the power button to turn it off....Why is this happening?
Okay, one... did you order XP with the laptop? Someone else didn't order XP with their notebook, but the tester apparently left it installed... and was having the same problem as you. If you ordered it with your laptop, you should have a reinstallation CD. I'd use it. Either that, or just contact your reseller and ask them.

And now I tried to reload the OS and it came with XP Pro,,but now it wont even read the disk so I cant even install the OS again. Nothing works,,,I cant open any programs or it wont even read any CDs I put in...What should I do?

The only thing that happens in windows is the balloons at the bottom that say update and stuff,,but I cant click on them to close them, or anything. I can get into anything in windows.....

It dit NOT start this from day one,,,it just started this today,,,or late last night. I am trying to start in safe mode but cant find the option in my BIOS setup screen. Is it f2 I hit or...? This is a major headache for me and I should not have to do this already,,this computer was loaded to the max with all of the best options available and I should not have to spend hours and hours tearing my hair out to fix this.

F8 brings up the boot options where you can choose safe mode.

I did contact them this morning...Should I ask for a bran new one? Because this should NOT be happening..This is the reason I spent so much money on this,,SO I DONT have problems...I spent hours and hours already on this and I should NOT have to do this already...What a bad start already......Will they give me a new one? I got it from DL.com

Have you tried doing a clean install of WinXP? You press F2 on powerup to get into the Bios, set the CD drive as your boot device and it should be able to read the disk. It'll autoload the Window's install. Hopefully you didnt mess up anything in the Bios before- that is if you accidentally got into it. I've seen peeps messing with it all the time and not even knowing it.

We have been working with our customer since last night over the phone. Once we heard of the problems, we were certain they were software related as the symptoms only started showing up after an extensive file transfer software package "PCRelocate" moved a large number of applications from an older HP laptop to his new chembook 2370V.

After extensive troubleshooting, the only way to fix it was to re-install windows.

It was later reported to us by the customer that the problem was software related and caused by an 3rd partry anti-virus (Pc-illin) installation.

I also think the problem had something to do with a file transfer software title call "PCRelocate." But, I have been told by Jacked that the transfer software did not create the XP issues.

Don't get all huffy puffy just yet... it sounds too much like a software issue for them to just send you a new one...

Well the problem was resoved and I did end up reinstalling the OS and its like bran new. I kinda think this was a good thing it happend,,,now I know how DL stuck by me the entire time, and they took as much time as needed to help me out,,,and even gave me the direct cell number for after hours,,,which is RARE. This baby seems to be working great,,my dam forearms just hurt me on this,,,I know Matt has never heard this problem before, but leave it to me to be the first for something so weird. I think its the flat edge design, or I have to use a different arm position maybe,,,im trying them all now....But as for the performance of this computer, its great. And DL helped me out tremendously......

Write a reseller review (if you havn't already) http://www.resellerratings.com

Jacked sounds like you got fa better service then if you had to call a script reader. Next time before posting a problem try contacting your reseller and then post about your good experience instead of a bad problem

I know G2, I never wanted to sound like I was flaming DL in ANY way, I just had no idea what to do, and this forum so far has helped me on every problem I have had with a computer. And when the problem happend DL was closed and I did not have Matts cell number at the time. It was MY fault for this problem, and NOT the notebook itself, the problem was that I installed PC Cillin anti virus and I did not notice a message the first time that said if any other anti viruses are on the computer it could render the computer useless, well I had Norton on there which DL gave me,,,and sure enough the 2 programs just didnt like each other. Matthew was correct all the way on this. I have wrote a reseller rating already and gave DL the best possible reveiw, as I still have not dealt with anyone who cares as much as them. Matt has been a big help and I appreciate it,,,but I am not too in the know on computers so im sure he will get sick of me eventually.

During after hours, they seems to reply to threads on their forum notebookdiscussions.com

I recall them mentioning about using AIM, not sure. I would have to ask them next time I talk to them.

Or you could always fly out to "SIN CITY" - Las Vegas to visit them
